Need To Install The N53 PCI Network Card From Asus Without Installing Anything Before

Hi

I am new to kali linux and have got a fresh install with all the current updates (without any new repositories). I am really interested in aircrack and wifi exploitation. But before i can do any of that i need to install my second network adapter, the asus n53 pcie. I am able to type this because my motherboard came with its own intergrated wifi adapter, the aetheros (something). That was working out of the box as soon as kali linux was installed, however i need a proper network adapter (the n53) to make use of my 3rd party long range antenna (it can pick up networks over 600m away ).

I am attempting to install my asus n53 pcie network adapter but have had no success at all, most likely because i have no idea what to do once i have extracted the driver. Currently it is sitting in my home folder. It has a few folders and files in it, with these being the folders

(chips, common, include, os, rate_ctrl, sta and tools)

and these being the files

(iwpriv_usage.txt, makefile, readme_sta_pci, rt2860STA.dat, rt2860staCarddat, sta_ate_iwpriv_usage.txt.)

In the readme file it says this in the instructions:

1> $tar -xvzf DPB_RT2860_Linux_STA_x.x.x.x.tgz
go to "./DPB_RT2860_Linux_STA_x.x.x.x" directory.

2> In Makefile
set the "MODE = STA" in Makefile and chose the TARGET to Linux by set "TARGET = LINUX"
define the linux kernel source include file path LINUX_SRC
modify to meet your need.

3> In os/linux/config.mk
define the GCC and LD of the target machine
define the compiler flags CFLAGS
modify to meet your need.
** Build for being controlled by NetworkManager or wpa_supplicant wext functions
Please set 'HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y' and 'HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=y'.
=> #>cd wpa_supplicant-x.x
=> #>./wpa_supplicant -Dwext -ira0 -c wpa_supplicant.conf -d
** Build for being controlled by WpaSupplicant with Ralink Driver
Please set 'HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y' and 'HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=n'.
=> #>cd wpa_supplicant-0.5.7
=> #>./wpa_supplicant -Dralink -ira0 -c wpa_supplicant.conf -d

4> $make
# compile driver source code
# To fix "error: too few arguments to function ”„iwe_stream_add_event"
=> $patch -i os/linux/sta_ioctl.c.patch os/linux/sta_ioctl.c

5> $cp RT2860STA.dat /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat

6> load driver
#[kernel 2.4]
# $/sbin/insmod rt2860sta.o
# $/sbin/ifconfig ra0 inet YOUR_IP up

#[kernel 2.6]
# $/sbin/insmod rt2860sta.ko
# $/sbin/ifconfig ra0 inet YOUR_IP up

7> unload driver
$/sbin/ifconfig ra0 down
$/sbin/rmmod rt2860sta

And this to me looks like another language. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT if someone could give me step by step instructions on how to install this, without skipping on anything. I will even pay 10000 dogecoin if someone helps me! I have been searching youtube tutorials for 3 hours (lol) for it and havent found anything. Please help me!

Thanks

How To Recover From A Botched Graphics Card Driver Install

OK,

Lastnight I decided to finally attempt to install the dedicated ATI/AMD Catylist drivers. After all I was successfull with the HP drivers, right...

No matter which grub selection I make, getting in is broken, except of course for the Windows XP Pro x64 entry, that works just fine. I'm here with you today, because of the Fedora 21 Live DVD, (slooooww).

Here is the drivers log file:

==========================================================

I just rebooted without attempting to configure the card, as per the ATI/AMD warning stating that it's important to do so, because my thinking was derailed due to seeing errors, and the install program said I needed to reboot. Afterall, I just couln't believe that with a "Failed to compile kernel module" error, it would actually keep the changes I'd made, that surely Linux had a failsafe in place for such circumstances. In other words, I'm also a newbie, and just don't know how many hoops of fire one has to jump through to be at peace with linux.

Can anyone please help be get back into my install, I've already set up so many things, there's just got to be a way, right?

Thanks in Advance!

"make Install" In A Custom Directory ?

hi,

Because i am cross compiling busybox for an arm board and can't install directy busybox on it (it don't have apt-get/sudo/make) i tried to compile busybox with arm-linux-gcc and "make" it in a custom directory with /usr/ /bin/ sbin/ this way i could copy paste the folder and the exe in a clean root and transfert this root to my board.

Sadly i don't seems to be able to change the installation patch.
i tried with :
Code:
make install PREFIX=/home/blabla1/blabla2/blabla3

but when going into the blabla3 folder i find no file (/usr/ /bin/ and /sbin/ are present because i created them myself).

./configure can't be used because the file don't exist.

Any idea on how i could change the installation patch ?

Network Driver Problem Suse 11

Stuck Loading Nvidia Driver

new computer from boxes, does not install nvidia driver
Booted from USB then ran YaST, I am new with OpenSuse but have two times before installed OpenSuse on fresh HDD's and Nvidia cards with ease.

The symptoms are like when I switched from a GTX 640 that only has mother board power to the GTX 750 Ti and needed power that I did not connect at first. Until I added extra power to the graphics card I only got a single low res VGA output. This 750 card definitely has power but still can only provide single low res to VGA output.

Terminal (dmesg) ......The NVIDIA GPU 0000:01:00.0 (PCI ID: 10de:1380)installed in this system is not supported by the 304.125 NVIDIA Linux driver release. Please see 'Appendix A - supported NVIDIA GPU Products' in this release's README, available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. .... None of the VVIDIA graphics adapters were initialized!

Terminal (uname -r) 3.16.7-21 -default [OpenSuse version]

Terminal (/sbin/lspci) VGA Compatible controller: Nvidia Corporation GM107 [GeForce GTX 750 Ti] (rev 02)

have tried:
1. different power cables to graphic card
2. two GTX 750 Ti cards, neither work.
3. re-installed OpenSuse
4. removed card and mother board can run two monitors in high res. DVI cables are new and work. Monitors (4) are all AOC i2367 and working.

5. added to repository 'bumblebee' which contains NVIDIA drivers and tried rebooting. I am not good at repositories yet. However, I didn't need to do this twice before on new installs with NVIDIA cards.

6. downloaded from www.geforce.com file:///home/shark/Downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-346.72(1).run but when I run it error, "The file /home/shark/Downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-346.72(3).run was opened with UTF-8 encoding but contained invalid characters."It is set to read-only mode, as saving might destroy its content.
Either reopen the file with the correct encoding chosen or enable the read-write mode again in the menu to be able to edit it."

Hardware list: Asus H81M-E motherboard, i5 4460 CPU, 550W power, Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphic card,

Note: two graphic cards on hand, both work in another OpenSuse computer.

I am just learning Linux so I need simple step by step instructions.

Thank you in advance.

Need Kernel Header File

Hi folks,

I'm trying to install the drivers for my "legacy" nvidia graphics card.
I've downloaded the file from nvidia's website to install the driver, but during the process I get this message...

Kernel header file ' /lib/modules/3.13.0-37-generic/build/include/linux/version.h ' does not exist .

The most likely reason is the kernel source files in ' /lib/modules/3.13.0-37-generic/build ' have not been configured.

Anyone know how to configure this file? I've been working on this for a few days now...it's getting old!

Thanks for your help.

Executable Not Found From /usr/local/bin

Hi,

I installed ghostscript via yum package manager. Later I wanted a newer version of ghostscript and compiled it from source. "make install" placed the gs executable file under /usr/local/bin/gs. This works if I run the command with absolute path, but if try to run gs, the shell will output

"-bash: /usr/bin/gs: No such file or directory"

if I echo the path variable it will display

/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

If i run whereis it will give me the correct path
gs: /usr/local/bin/gs

How do I make it work so that typing "gs" will run the executable file from the /usr/local/bin/gs?

(I am using Centos 6)

Thanks.
