Centos /etc/fstab Command Doesn't Mount After Restart

Hi

I am using Centos 6.5 and i am testing Glusterfs.

I have at /etc/hosts :

Code:
123.456.789.000 host1
000.987.654.321 host2

And they can ping each other and all working great...

Glusterfs requires this command:

Code:
mount host1:/gluster-vmstore /home/nginx/public -t glusterfs

and if i run it manually it works great.

But when i restart checking using df -h is gone and is not working until i run it again manualy

I found on a tutorial that this edit on /etc/fstab will work after restart:

Code:
host1:/gluster-vmstore /home/nginx/public glusterfs defaults 0 0

But after restarting it was not working

Any ideas?

Thanks

How To Run An Application After The Boot ?

Hi, i know this could seems like a "simple" question but after a lot fo try i can't seems to make it works, i am stuck on this. I am working on a sbc6000x board, linux 2.6.24, an embedded system.

I am working on a pretty nice project which when called like this run perfectly :
Code:
cd /bin
./apps

(/bin/apps don't works, it must be ./apps from the directory)

After searching a little about the startup i learned about rc.local and created it in /etc/init.d, rc.local look like this :

Code:
#!bin/sh
# /etc/rc.d/rc.local: Local system initialization script.
#

cd /bin
./apps
cd

Sadly it seems it is never called. I was thinking about maybe add cd /bin, /.apps to the end of the etc/profile but i don't know if profile can run command aside from simple scripts call.

Does anyone has an idea on why this don't work or on how i could do this ?

Vncserver On Suse 12 Enterprise

Starting the vncserver by executing vncserver :1 works as expected but what actually starts? I issued these commands but nothing I see identifies with the vncserver. I believe the server is tigervnc.
service --status-all
systemctl -a
systemctl list-unit-files
chkconfig -A
Also, how can this command: "vncserver :1", be issued at startup or turn the service on at startup?
I have tried this but the command does not execute.
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 379 Apr 23 17:33 /etc/init.d/after.local
cat /etc/init.d/after.local

./usr/bin/vncserver :1

Solved:
Made the following updates to /et/c/init/d/after.local

HOME=/root
export HOME
/usr/bin/vncserver -fg :1

Systemd And Loading Init File

I recently changed from Debian 7 to 8 which now uses systemd as the default init.
I had a init file that worked fine (see below) and works fine when directly invoked
Code:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/iptables start

however fails when indirectly invoked
Code:
$ sudo service iptables start
Job for iptables.service failed. See 'systemctl status iptables.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

Code:
$ systemctl status iptables.service
 iptables.service - LSB: Iptable setup
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/iptables)
   Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2015-05-25 17:18:37 PDT; 5s ago
  Process: 4825 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/iptables start (code=exited, status=203/EXEC)

Code:
$ journalctl -xn
No journal files were found.

I don't understand the error except that it "failed" and is loaded.
I have disabled and re-enabled the service with these commands:

Code:
sudo systemctl disable iptables
sudo systemctl enable iptables

which completes successfully but did not fix the problem.

Failed To Bring Up Eth1 - Debian Wheezy

Hi,

I tried to configure my ethernet interface on a Debian Wheezy VM, but I've a problem. When I try to restart /etc/init.d/networking, I've no error message.
But my eth1 interface isn't up and when I try to up it with : ifup eth1, it return me :

Code:
root@debian-main:/# ifup eth1
RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Failed to bring up eth1

My /etc/network/interface file is :

Code:
auto eth0
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

iface eth1 inet static
        address 192.168.10.1
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        gateway 192.168.10.254

Eth0 is my internet interface and eth1 is a local interface. I want to install a DNS and a DHCP server on eth1 to be able to connect client with this VM and give them an ip adress.

Thanks guys

CentOS 7 - Not Able To Open Vmplayer

I have CentOS 7 64 bit. I have installed open-vm-tools on it.
I have installed vmplayer using
Code:
./VMware-Player-6.0.1-1379776.x86_64.bundle

Now when I try to open vmplayer on it, it does not load 'Virtual Network Device'
and shows error in terminal
Code:
Failed to build vmnet. Failed to execute the build command.

When I check status of vmware, it shows
Code:
Module vmnet not loaded

If I try to run
Code:
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

It gives me following error.
Code:
make: Leaving directory `/tmp/modconfig-2NfFeS/vmnet-only'
Unable to install all modules.

I am not able to open VMplayer, please help me to open it.

Command Manual Working But Not On Cron

Hi

When i run this command manually on Centos 6.6 it works:

Code:
/usr/bin/find /backup/ -type d -mtime +1 -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rf

but as a cron job it doesn't as i can see a folder with files there from Mar 28:

Code:
55 5 * * * /usr/bin/find /backup/ -type d -mtime +1 -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rf

And here are the logs from cron that it is executing this at the correct time :

Code:
Mar 30 05:55:01 server CROND[9526]: (root) CMD (/usr/bin/find /backup/ -type d -mtime +1 -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rf)

Any ideas why?

Thanks

Problem With Samba Share

Hello

I want to share a folder on my Fedora linux pc with a Windows 8 pc in the same network.

I have followed this guide : http://www.labtestproject.com/config...rver_on_fedora

but I am not able to see my share on my Fedora linux pc from the other Windows 8 PC.

This is my /etc/samba/smb.conf :

Code:
[global]
        workgroup = mygroup
        server string = HP Samba
;       netbios name = MYSERVER

;       interfaces = lo eth0 192.168.12.2/24 192.168.13.2/24
;       hosts allow = 127. 192.168.12. 192.168.13.

;       max protocol = SMB2
[My-Documents]
        path = /home/Jonas/Desktop/My-Documents
        read only = no
;       browseable = yes
        guest ok = yes

The workgroup name is the same as the workgroup name on the Windows PC.

Firewall on Fedora linux pc is down.

I do get the following output when restarting smb :
Code:
apr 27 12:27:49 jonashp.domain.local systemd[1]: Starting Samba SMB Daemon...
apr 27 12:27:49 jonashp.domain.local smbd[4324]: [2015/04/27 12:27:49.686796,  0] ../source3/param/loadparm.c:3034(lp_set_enum_parm)

I thought it would be that simple...
