I use Firefox 16 for my automation and it uses gconfd internally.
Is there a way to disable firefox from using gconfd. It writes a lot of data into saved_state which is leading to crashing total usage of CPU.
I have found –disable-gconf
but not sure how to compile firefox with that command
Is there a way to disable log messages from gconf?
Hi all ,
i tried to update firefox 24 to firefox 35. Found a tutorial how to install it and did
#chown -R root:root /tmp/firefox && mv /tmp/firefox /opt/firefox-latest
#ln -s /opt/firefox-latest/firefox /usr/local/bin/firefox-latest
and now run it with firefox-latest.
I had actually the both versions of firefox and with pkgtool tried to remove firefox 35 but it cant, so i uninstalled firefox 24. Now i have troubles with flashplayer. how can remove firefox 35 ?
What are the recommended best security practices for using Firefox on a new Linux system (Centos 7 in my case)? I only access the web using Firefox using my regular, non-root, account. Other than that, what Firefox and/or system settings should I enable/disable in order to safeguard my system from malware scripts, viruses, etc? Also, are there similar Thunderbird settings that should be enabled/disabled?
Thanks in advance from a new Linux user
When i doble click on some html file it gives me that error
KDEInit could not launch '/usr/lib64/firefox-24.2.0/firefox.
I can open it with right click and use "open with" option, but than i have 4 positions of firefox in context menu. How can solve this ? I currently use firefox 34.1 , installed it slackpkg.
I downloaded the firefox and extracted it using tar xjvf
And then when I try to open from a terminal
I get above error
Error : no display specified
It also default firefox 4.0b12. It opens when I click on the firefox icon and but not via terminal.
I want to open extracted latest firefox via terminal.
Any solutions available for the same.
I boot with Kubuntu Live CD,
I launched terminal,
go to the folder where I unpack the Firefox TAR ball,
and run ./firefox
it says Permission denied
How to solve this?
I'm trying to move a new version of Linux into the opt file through sudo but by putting "sudo mv Firefox /opt/firefox34" AND without the 34 at the end but all its saying is "sudo: unable to resolve host name --minty fresh-- mv: cannot stay 'firefox': No such file or directory" but I'm sure I downloaded the new version of Firefox! Now I can't use the Internet!

chmod 1777 /tmp
chmod 0755 /home
chmod a+rwx /tmp
chown -R root:root /var/lib/gdm
chmod -R 777 /var/lib/gdm
rm -rf /var/lib/gdm3/.*
rm -rf /var/lib/gdm/.*
rm -rf /Home Dir/UserName/.gcon*
rm -rf /Home Dir/UserName/.gnom*
rm -rf /Home Dir/UserName/.cache
rm -rf /Home Dir/UserName/.person*
touch /Home Dir/UserName/.personal.login
cat /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system
mkdir -p /usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.default
chmod 775 /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system
Here is my system information:
Linux Kernel v2.6.32-504.12.2.el6.x86_64
CentOS 6.6
GNOME 2.28.2
I have been searching for an answer all week and found NONE.
Somebody, Anybody please help!!!
The only solution I found that works is deleting all the .files, but there's got to be a better way.
My Firefox browser says it needs to be updated so I downloaded the file but when I open it I can't see how to update it as there are just lots of files and folders. Is there another way to update programmes I am missing?
