Hello Everyone

I just wanted to say hi, I am a linux newbie, and enjoying it. I've had a handful of classes and I have a couple decent sandboxes (VMware & VB) with about 6 distros (Kali, Ubuntu desktop & Serv, CentOS, Gentoo, OpenSuse and Slackware). I've been working on my Bachelors in Information Security Management and hopefully headed to grad school next winter.

I love the pen-testing with Kali which has been a prime focus for the past couple years but being confined to a classroom I learn only so much. Which brought me here.

I tend to lurk more than post. I have been lurking for the past couple years and I really like how helpful everyone seems to be, so thanks for the help you didn't know you were giving

How Do I Get Mail Sent To Me From This Forum Re-routed Out Of My Spam Folder?

This is a forum technical problem I'm having. Some of the legitimate emails from this forum site (LinuxQuestions.org) are ending up in my spam folder in my Google Gmail account. How do I fix this?
Thanks

Wi-fi Printing Configuration (HP)

Hi,
This is my first visit to LinuxQuestions so Happy Thursday to you all!
When I installed Linux Mint 17 I had my HP printer attached by the USB cable. I am hoping to find out how to set it up through the Wi-Fi. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Matt

ps My friend told me he recently upgraded his Windows 8.1 and the routine took away his admin rights and dumped him into a restricted user. MS want $99 to fix it. The tears have dried now but my stomach still aches like crazy.

Been Having Problems, Need Help With "important" Log Entries, Fedora 21

If I'm loading down the system, i.e., running transmission while playing a video, periodically network throughput drops, video stops, cpu activity jumps up, then after a few seconds to a minute suddenly cpu activity goes back to normal, networking and video resumes. In addition I have this "important" message in the log viewer:

Quote:
systemd-udevd
Error calling EVIOCSKEYCODE on device node '/dev/input/event2' (scan code 0xc0183, key code 226): Invalid argument
There are several lines with varying scan and key codes, the rest being the same.

In addition, a couple weeks ago, I had locked myself out of the system, (boot to black screen), due to a failed attempt at installing the latest AMD/ATI proprietary drivers. Thanks to the help of several people on the forum, I was able to get back in, using the native drivers.

Obviously as a newbie to Linux I don't know if any of these things are related.

I would appreciate any help anyone could give me, TIA!!

Nvidia Propietary Drivers On Linux LiveCD

Hi everybody!

I have visited this forum a lot in the last years to learn information about Linux, so above all thank you very much to the linuxquestions.org community for building this valuable resource!

Now my question:

I have a brand new Nvidia GTX750 graphics card. Nouveau does not work correctly with this card (very low resolution and red dots all around the screen appear), so I need to install propietary drivers.

I have coped with this when installing distros in my hard drive, I just install the propietary drivers following the reccomended user guidelines and that's all, but I'm now starting to work with Tails (amnesic Linux distribution) and 'unfortunately' as it's an amnesic system I'll have to install them everytime I boot.

I was wondering if there's a way to install them permanently on my Live CD/USB so I am ready to work as soon as I boot. I have not really any clue on how a LiveUSB is composed, and as far as I have searched on the Internet I have not found any information about this matter.

Sorry for the bad grammatics, I have a pretty bad level of English

TL;DR: How can I permanently install Nvidia propietary drivers on an amnesic Linux Live CD/USB?

Unable To Boot To Linux Deepin

Friends,

I'm completely a Linux newbie, so explain as much as possible.

I installed Linux Deepin on dual boot(practically, triple-boot).
When I select the Linux Deepin option in bootloader, I mostly get a blank screen for a long time.
After practically 2 mins, it presents with some lines of text which I, being a newbie to Linux can't comprehend and hence, cannot counter the error.
The lines go:
"
udevadm settle - timeout of 30 seconds reached, the event queue contains:
/sys/devices/pci0000:00:1d.7/usb1(1080)
/sys/devices/pci0000:00:1d.7/usb1.1-0:1-0(1081)
up waiting for root device. Common reasons for this problem:
root args(cat /proc/cmdline)
Check rootdelay = ...[There's something here I cannot recollect at the moment]
Missing modules(cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)

ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/b4b672ea-c6e5-47fe-a174-165ffde63c8 doesn't exist!
Dropped to shell!
"

Then it goes to a Ubuntu shell or something of that sort.

Surprisingly, every-time I boot into Windows and then restart my desktop and then boot to Deepin, it successfully boots in.
I have Deepin installed on external hard disk which is not very fast(just mentioned this if it is of any use.) Also, my Windows is extremely slow in booting up, it takes almost 10 mins, which is why I switched to Deepin, which boots up almost in 2 mins if it does.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.
