How Much Bandwidth To VIEW A Webcam?

This is kind of a linux question.

I have no window at work. I was thinking of taking a small LCD and hooking it to a Raspberry Pi (Or some other tiny board PC) and then linking that to my cell phone to stream a webcam from Grand Turk, or wherever I want to see that day. My phone is 4G and I have 30gigs of data a month. My question is, how much bandwidth does VIEWING a webcam take? I think most of them update every 30 seconds or so.

On a related note, does anyone have experience with LCD4Linux? Is it possible to use that to display a webfeed?

Thank you

Screen Sharing In Fedora 20

hi,

I am using fedora core 20. To access desktop from remote I followed the instructions mentioned in the website.

http://hex.ro/wp/blog/fedora-20-remo...rom-windows-7/

1. Settings -> System -> Sharing – enable Sharing then for Screen Sharing enable it and then enable all checkboxes
2. Added port in firewall
#firewall-cmd --add-service=vnc-server
3. Set the command
# gsettings set org.gnome.Vino require-encryption false

From other machine, using Tight vncviewer when I entered the IP address of this machine, I get full black screen. Please help me in this regards.

Thanks in advance.

Replacing GRUB With LILO (Mint With Slackware)

I have dual-boot configuration, Windows and Linux Mint. I would like to replace Mint with Slackware. Problem is, Mint installed GRUB and Slackware uses LILO. At the moment I don't have second computer so I can't use help of internet if anything goes wrong, so I need first to make sure I know what to do.
Do I just proceed with installing Slackware and LILO will overwrite GRUB? Or how do I do it?

What Is The Best Way To Enable HA In Squid Proxy?

I have setup proxy server as squid Now i would like to enable High Availability between two squid proxy servers acting as one.

Installing Mint

I downloaded Mint and burnt it to a CD. The computer boots up fine with the CD, goes to the Mint home screen, but when I try to install it and partition the hard drive to run next to Windows Vista, the screen completely garbles (green background with short different colored horizontal lines all over it). Is this normal? Should I let it run for a while and it will clear up? How long can I expect the partitioning to take?

Mint 17.1 Rebecca(64-bit) Freezes At Starting

When I start my HP laptop, which is dual booted with Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca"(64-bit) and choose to start Mint, the logo of Linux Mint appears and then it freezes and doesn't proceed. Windows 7 is working fine. It was perfectly working for last 2 months.
(My battery back-up is low and cannot give back-up for more than 25 minutes, just mentioned it as it may be associated with this problem).
NB: When I pressed escape while showing the Mint logo at starting, some underlying(?) processes were shown. I have attached a jpg image of that screen. Hope it helps.

Mint Cinnamon

Do people like the new mint cinnamon because it looks like windows? When I read reviews there doesn't seem to be any functional advantage with most of these distros, only graphical ones. It seems to me that people who used windows prefer mint and those that have macs like the unity desktop.

Or am I dreadfully wrong?

CrossOver Or Wine (or Other Interface)

Sorry in advance, I first posted the question in the Software Forum, considering there were no replies I thought maybe it was a newb error.

So here goes..

HI everyone,

I am trying to find a way to ditch MS OS's, however, at the present time I Need MS Office, without using a VM, is there a piece of software that you would recommend I install that would enable me to keep my Linux OS (MInt-Mate), and install Office 2010+ (I know WIne works well with older Office versions).

Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.

ps. Trial and error is fine, for that reason alone I have a laptop-labrat I Use.

Thanks again.

Back Up Linux Mint 13 To Upgrade To LM17

If I use mint's backup, then wipe out LM13 to install LM17, when I do a restore, does it put back all my settings, styles, wallpaper, etc?

If mint's backup does not, is there a program that will do that?

Thanks!
