Hi I've been trying to get my atheros wireless card (Mini pcie) to work but with no luck. I'm currently using Kali linux. Do I need to install a driver or is there any other way for the chipset to work?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ62-413NR. I have tried using many different distro's and I have the same problem. The networks will be seen and it will start to connect then it immediately gets disconnected. Tried everything on the Ubuntu forum and still nothing. The wifi works flawlessly with Windows though. The wireless card is an Atheros AR9285. I currently have Deepin Linux dual booted on my laptop with no Pro. Drivers for the card available in the settings. If anyone would like to assist me in getting this issue resolved I would greatly appreciate it. I am loving Linux OS!

Hi everyone, I am a new member and also new to linux, I encountered a problem, but last week I tried but did not solve
I downloaded iso file linux 1.1.0 on page potassium https://www.kali.org, I installed on my Dell inspiron n4010, it works very well and does not have any errors, but after I update and upgrade all packages, I rebooted the system switches to the command line, I lost a lot of time to return to the graphics, but when booting up the network manager icon not seen, I have set the package network-manager-gnome_0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb network manager icon show but when click on the network manager icon only contained text "network manager is not running."
I also installed Wicd but could not run "could not connect to wicd's D-Bus interface. Check the wicd log for error messages."
wireless driver apparently was set before
root@kali:~# airmon-ng

Quote:
BUS 002 DEVICE 003: ID 2001:3314 D-LINK Corp.
O/s: Xandros 3.0.3 Business
Laptop: Dellc840
Given: Wireless card recognized by laptop and executable driver file sitting waiting for installation.
Question:When I click on the .exe file (driver file) it opens and installs somewhere that I can't find, even with the Tools - Find Files/Folders option using the *.inf file format as a search handle.
How do I control where this file opens to? If I could control where it opens to, I could then find it to install it for use.
I am unable to create wireless access point on my Ubuntu 14.04. I have BCM4352 wireless card.

how to get wireless card to work in ubuntu dell laptop inspiron 1318
First time Linux Mint user and fist time poster to this forum. Need to install a Linux distro on my family member's HP Mini 1000, an older netbook with minimal hardware (1 GB memory stick, Intel Atom N270 processor, 80 GB ATA HDD, and it runs XP SP3. . I advised her to uninstall XP and buy Windows 7, but she doesn't want to spend the $93. So ...
I have been testing different Linux distros from flash drive on my HP Probook 4530S laptop. Have tried Ubuntu 14x and now Mint, which I prefer. Ubuntu wouldn't boot to desktop on the netbook after choosing "Use without installing." Mint runs OK on it, but I can't configure the wireless connection. I suspect that either the network hardware isn't compatible or I am missing something when trying to manually configure the settings. I read some info from the Mint web site about this issue, but not sure about whether the Mini's wireless card is compatible: Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. Does updating Windows drivers help with this?
TIA,
Don
My atheros wireless cards (ar9580) regdomain is 0x0 (us) which doesn't match my current location, so I can't see the frequencies that I'm actually allowed to see. I've tried changing the eeprom regdomain with no luck (http://blog.asiantuntijakaveri.fi/20...cie-cards.html). Is there another way that I can change it? Or should I modify the ath9k driver?
Any help is very much appreciated.
I'm having some problems changing the EEPROM regulatory domain for my wireless card (ar9580 locked to US 0x0). I can't operate on the frequencies that I'm allowed to use. I've tried changing db.txt with no luck. It adds a couple of extra channels, but not the full channel list that im allowed to use.
I want to try to modify my ath9k driver so that it overrides the EEPROM, but im not really sure how to. I've found some patches to help modify the driver (Openwrt) but I dont know how to add them.
So my question is:
- Do I have to recompile my kernel (3.18.0-kali1-amd64) to add the patches from openwrt), or do I have to download the openwrt image to be able to use the patches? Or have i got it totally wrong and there's another way to do this?
Any help is very much appreciated.
