No Space Left On Device When Doing Update.

Dear gurus,

I am using NAS with Linux BizNAS-02H5 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.54-2 x86_64 GNU/Linux OS version.

I am facing problem with rootfs / , it is 100% full, its total size is 9.7GB.

Now i want to increase the space of rootfs, i have free space on attached drives, both partioned and unpartioned space is free,

How can I mount space on root folder or ( / ) folder.

I am performing work on a particularly large set of files (around 5GB in total). I get the message: error writing temporary file: No space left on device when trying to run my script and presume it's because of the 2GB limit on my tmp folder.

How do either:

a) increase the size of my tmp folder
b) tell my process to use another folder instead of tmp?

I have made a change to GRUB2 bootloader in etc/default/grub.
Now I need to run 'update grub' for the change to take effect.
However, the 'update grub' command on the terminal is giving this error message:

Can someone please explain why this command is no longer working?

I've had to make a change to grub because I tried to install a new distro which meant I had to alter grub.
The install wasn't successful so I deleted the grub file and then re-installed it.
The re-installed grub needs a change so I can get sound on my pc.
However, I can't add these changes because the 'update grub' command doesn't work.

I've checked the grub file with another debian distro and they are both the same.
So now I don't know if I need to check if a different grub file is the problem or anything else.
Can someone help?

when i download, the file disappears, but it takes up space like its been downloaded. where did the file go, and more importantly, how do i find it. my space keeps disappearing

I am very suprised! I previously had a Windows 7 desktop, dual boot with Windows Server 2012 R2. I didn't care much about 2012 R2, so I went with a Debian server on another computer.

I wanted to triple boot my computer, so I looked at my BIOS to see if my computer has UEFI support, but it doesnt, so I am not able to boot to GPT. One decision lead to another, and I decided not to install Hackintosh. As part of this process, I had converted it to GPT, and then back to MBR when installing Windows 8.1 Pro. Everything went well.

When I went to install Debian 7, it was not recognizing anything on that drive. I found out it was a backup GUID partition table left over. I used fixparts found on rodsbooks.com, and I fixed the disk partition table.

Now this is where things get weird. Before installing, I created a primary partition for /, and an extended partition with 5 logical partitions inside it. I installed Debian 7 from a live install DVD, and I manually created the partitions. I created a 4GB /, 16GB /usr, 4GB /var, and 64GB /home. Then I left a bunch of free space (~145GB) and then 16GB swap space. (I have 8GB ram, and I plan to hibernate sometimes).

After a successful installation, installation of packages, reboots, and frustration with PCI card problems, I rebooted to Windows 8.1.

Upon opening diskpart gui, I was greeted with the picture attached.

I'm having trouble with installing the Mullvad VPN client on my computer. The configuration files work fine and there is a connection but the client just won't work (there is a icon in the applications but when clicking on it, password is asked and then nothing happens). Using Debian Wheezy 7.
I'm in contact with Mullvad but we haven't made any progress yet, and it's weekend now.

I tried a couple of thing but this is where i'm now:

- Fresh installed system.

→ Going to Downloads map in terminal
→ login as root
→ trying to install Mullvad by dpkg -i mullvad_48-1_all.deb
→ seeing error installing Mullvad
→ apt-get install -f
→ installing “mullvad depends on packages”

I found this link about "Package has a Depends on python:any (>= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2)" https://qa.debian.org/debcheck.php?dist ... thon-gdata
It says : Package has a Depends on python:any (>= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2) which cannot be satisfied on amd64.
What does this mean for me?

I have a debian OS on a partition on my hard disk (sda1).
There was no sound because the ati rs880/radeon 4200 sound card needed drivers which were only in the debian 'non-free' version'.
So I added the non-free version to my install and also had to make a change to the GRUB bootloader file.
After that, I got sound.

Now I've installed a new debian distro to my second partition - sda2.
This time I ensured I installed the debian non-free version.
But I'm having trouble installing the drivers for the sound card.

I go into Synaptic package manager to install the relevant drivers and it gives me an error message:

Configuring libfglrx - install Fglrx driver despite unsupported graphics card?

I'm not sure what that means because I want the drivers for my sound card - not graphics.
When I press the 'Help' button, it says:

The above card requires either the non-free legacy Fgrlx driver 
(package fgrlx-legacy-driver) or the free Radeon driver (package xserver-xorg-video-radeon).

This is fine because I can just install the 'free Radeon driver'.

But the Help message then says:

Before the Radeon driver can be used you must remove Fglrx configuration from xorg.conf 
(and xorg.conf.d/)
Note that switching to the free Radeon driver requires the fglrx-driver package to be purged (not just removed).

So now I don't know what to do. Has anyone had this error message?
I know I can enable sound and have no problems with the graphics card because that's what happened with my original install on sda1.

But with the install on sda2, I don't know how to approach this problem.
Can anyone help please?

I previously installed kdenlive in previous Debian versions with the suggested command:

apt-get install kdenlive frei0r-plugins dvgrab recordmydesktop dvdauthor genisoimage

but it gives error messages in debian 8 saying packages not available

maybe my sources.list is wrong?

What should I do?

I tried to install Debian 8 and 7 but I get error message at partitioning stage:

"Failed to create a file system
The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) failed."

After that I couldn't advance further.

I booted from a live Debian and the HardDisk actually shows there with some older files on it.

I tried to install even Windows but from the start it shows the computer doesn't have a Hard Disk Drive so the installation stops right at the start.

Any ideas what is wrong and is there any fix?

To debugging kernel I am using Debian-Squeeze.

Actually "apt-get install gcc" occur some errors in Debian

When I use ifconfig there is no ethernet so that I guess Internet is

unavailable even if there is internet connection
