GloMoSim Installation In Linux Problem

hi everybody
I'm trying to install glomosim in fedora linux
I was following the guide to glomosim steps and I faced a problem in this step:

<< Now, you have to change some environmental parameters according to the destination folder which you put the Parsec.
You can create a file called “.bashrc” inside the root or home folder (if it does not already exist), and include the
following:
export PCC_DIRECTORY=/home/parsec
PATH=$PATH:$PCC_DIRECTORY/bin
export PATH
*Your PCC_DIRECTORY should be set to the targeted destination folder which you created earlier.
Now, type:
$ pcc >>

every time I tried to type pcc
this message appears : bash: pcc: command not found
anybody help me with this please

Bash: Javac: Command Not Found???

I'm new to linux but I use linux a little at school and by connecting through a shell at home. Anyways, I just installed linux a little while ago and I opened a shell and tried to compile some java code by going to the directory of the code and typing "javac someCode.java" like I do at school but it says the command is not found.

I previously had installed the java runtime environment and I just went to go and try to install the java development kit but it says it was already installed.

Is there some sort of path I need to set for the shell to look for the java compiler? Thanks in advance.

Edit:
I have added aliases to my .cshrc file at school and I just found a bashrc file and csh.cshrc file in the /etc folder. Sorry, I'm really new to all of this. Anyways, I'm geussing I have to edit the bash file? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial of scripting for these files???

Everything is working great on this server, however I am seeing Disk doesn't contain a valid partition table. I have no issue reading and writing, this something that can be ignored?

Now i want to _shrink_ the HOME partition so I can expand my VAR partition. Looked for guides but haven't found any site useful so far

I tried to find a way to do it when I installed it but it didn't seem to offer me this at this time even I looked around for a while.

How do I do this shrinking of HOME and extending of VAR partition??
please be fairly specific as Im not a pro yet

Is There A Way To Have A Script Called Source, That Can Be Run Without The Full Path?

Is there a way to have a script called source, that can be run without the full path?

Ex:
When I run:
export PATH=/home/user:$PATH
source

I get:
Code:
$ source
bash: source: filename argument required
source: usage: source filename [arguments]

However I want it to run my script called source:
Code:
$ cat source
#!/bin/bash
echo "Hello World"

Is there way to override a shell builtin in the PATH var or some other way?

Bash User Input Valid Then Continue

I have a script which reads a controller ID and continues. I am trying to add some checks for user input "ctrl".

Valid responses would be whole number 1 thur 5. If value is between 1-5 (single numeric value) then continue with the rest of the script. If any other value then Exit script or continue to ask user input until valid.

I tried a couple of while loops do with esac, but can not seem to get a handle

Code:
read -p "Controller ID#: " ctrl

Any help would be greatly appreciated

No Such File Or Directory Error On Opening Bash

Hi folks,

I have a very basic question for you if you don't mind. Whenever I open a terminal, I get this

Code:
 bash: /etc/profile.d/touchpad.sh: No such file or directory

followed by the usual prompt.

A few weeks ago I made a script called touchpad.sh, which would run whenever I opened a terminal. In the end, I deleted it because it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. But some file is clearly still pointing to it. I've searched high and low for the source of this error, i.e. some reference to touchpad.sh, but I cannot find it. I've looked in ~/.bashrc ~/.profile and a few other places I can't remember offhand that I found on the Internet. Can anyone tell me where this reference is most likely to be? While it doesn't cause any problems and I can still use the terminal without a problem, it's a bit annoying and considering the amount of time I've spent trying to solve this problem, I'd be most grateful if someone point me in the right direction.

I'm running Sparky Linux (Debian Jessie) 64-bit (XFCE install) with Enlightenment Desktop on Lenovo T420.

Thank you in advance.

Linux From Windows- Bash ,shell

Hello am a newbie to linux,
I tried to install cygwin for windows,all i need is i need to write a shell program for a batch file i already have, I am not able to do this.
My batch file content looks like

SET JAVA_HOME=..\jdk
SET CLASSPATH="%CLASSPATH%;../lib/A.jar;../lib/slf4j-api-1.6.1.jar;../lib/slf4j-simple-1.6.1.jar"

%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe com.A ../conf/C.properties

this works perfectly, I try to write a shell program which is failing when i check it through cygwin. i am not able to set the export to java_home.
The pblm i face is say my current directory where my shell program is 'Z'
then i want to get back to 'y' where X has two sub folders y and z

X

-Z (where shell pgm resides)

cd ../ or any combination of cd doesnot work in my shell script.

Please help me. Any help is greatly appreciated

/bin/sh: 1: Cc: Not Found

Hi,
I am crosscompiling u-boot for the beaglebone black and I have a problem that I don't understand.

I have installed correctly the linaro cross-compile tools and export the environment variable CC as:
export CC=/path_to_linaro_arm_cross_compiler/bin/arm-linux-gnueabihf-

And if I type in the terminal:
${CC}gcc --version

I see the linaro's compiler version, so all seems to be ok.

But, when I try to create the config file for the BBB with the command:
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=${CC} am335x_boneblack_defconfig

It complains with the message: "/bin/sh: 1: cc: not found"

Am I missing something?
