Output A List Of Five Books With Their Filename Titles Into One File

Dear forum of Linux,
could I output a list of five books with their filename titles into one file?
In order o output all the contents of all the files with their filenames there was: find . -type f | while read x; echo -e "\n$x";cat "$x";done > бетховен.txt

In spite of them being successively named 1Atitle... 2Atitle the two first aren't 1A 2A, but 1A ..5A (2
3 4) They actually a 1АБетховен.. 5АБетховен... It now breaks all things I hoped.

Could the task be done by head, cat or grep command? Cat has no filename parameter, head can't output the whole file and grep has a filename parameter but it's primary use is searching one line. In find I coulnd't write each file by hand ...

i've got another command awk '{ print FILENAME, $0 }' (it claims to show the filename though it shows it didn't end

Currently I blame the Linux learning curve because of google results and non-answered messages and all that after translation if a nice question directly to English. Isn't that it hard to make more help to design unixes language in that way to be really descriptive and write it as you think.
I'm deeply sorry for that grief!...(

Grep: Find Files That Do Not Have Multiple Different Strings

Hi all,

I'm trying to identify files that do not have matches for certain strings. FYI, these are files of DNA sequences and I'm trying to find those that are NOT sampled for any species by my group of interest (e.g., genes that are specific to that group of organisms).

I tried this code but it's actually yielding a list of files that DO match for my regexp.
Code:
for FILENAME in *.fas
do
grep -q -L ">PBAH" $FILENAME && grep -q -L ">SKOW" $FILENAME && grep -q -L ">CGRA" $FILENAME && echo $FILENAME
done

Basically I want to somehow go through and file files that do not contain ">PBAH" ">SKOW" or ">CGRA". Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
Kevin

Need Help In Bash Scripting

I have two files which has exact same number of lines.
I want first line of first file should be filename of new file and content of this new file should be first line of second file.
Then second line of first file should be filename of again new file and content of this new file should be second line of second file.
then third line of first file should be filename of again new file and content of this new file should be third line of second file.
and so on...
I am trying to do it using for loop but I am not able to create two for loops.
This is what I have done
Code:
IFS=$'\n'
var=$(sed 's/\"http\(.*\)\/\(.*\).wav\"\,\".*/\2/g' 1797.csv) # filenames of all files
var2=$(sed 's/\"http\(.*\)\/\(.*\).wav\"\,\"\(.*\)\"$/\3/g' 1797.csv) # contents of all files
for j in $var;
do
#Here I do not know how to use $var2
done

Script To Find The File Creation Time Is More Than Ten Minutes

Hi All,

Im trying to create a script which checks the creation time of a file and if it is more than ten minutes, send out an alert.

For ex : Creation date of file is 10:30 AM
current time is 10:45 AM

Then send an alert/ message.

This is the script i wrote below :

Code:
#!/bin/ksh

filename="/apps/log/file.txt"

if [ -f "${filename}" ]
then
        createTime=`ls -lad "${filename}" | awk '{print $8}'`
        echo "$createTime"
        currentTime=`date '+%M'`
        echo "$currentTime"
        DIFF=$(( $currentTime - $createTime ))
        echo "$DIFF"

else

        exit 1

fi

I am getting syntax error on the subraction when i try to run this script . I can understand that creation time and current time is in different format thats y this error throws, but i dont know how to rectify it .

I need to find out if the file creation time is more than ten minutes.

Please help me in achieving this output.

Error In Running Leach_test In NS-2.34

Hi all,

I am trying to simulate leach on NS2 but I've had problems with running the leach_test. I've followed all steps from installing NS2 up to installing the LEACH patch (used the latest one from exidus). Here's the error message in the leach.err I found.

Code:

Best Way To Run Two Interdependent Scripts

Hi All,

I have two scripts, the aim of these two scripts is, to check whether a particular script is running or not, if it wont runs, then throw a mail.

How i Achieved this output is, I wrote first script.

I created an infinite while loop which performs below steps

1. It creates a touch file
2. Triggers the script which needs to be monitored if its working or not.
3. Removes the touch file.

If the second step fails, then the remove file command will not happen and the script will stuck there itself.

I created an another script which checks the creation time of the touch file and if it is more than ten minutes, it means the second step in the first script is hanged, which also means that particular script is not working.

So if the creation time is more than 2 minutes the second script will throw a mail.

Below are the two scripts.

Code:
#!/bin/ksh

userid="chansd"

filename="/apps/log/check.txt"

while true ;do
touch $filename
pass=`/apps/eDMZ/call_st.ksh $userid`
sleep 20
rm $filename
done

Below script checks the file creation time and throws email if it is older than 2 minutes
Code:
#!/bin/ksh

filename="/apps/log/check.txt"

if [ -f "${filename}" ]
then
if test "`find $filename -mmin +2`"
then
echo "script is not working ! Please act on it" | mail -s "Script is not working" Example@mail.com
fi

else

        exit 1

fi

What im going to do is

1. I am going to run the first script in background so it runs forever.
2. I am going to run the second script in cron forevry 5 mins to check the file creation time.

3. So if the first script hangs . I will kill the process using process id and after the issue resolves with the inner script, I will run the main script again.

I am new to Linux, Please let me know if this approach will work as expected.

Script While Loop

Hello,
I'm working on a shell script that needs to read the a file (file1) a batch (read 2000 lines at a time) and then write those lines to seperate file which I'm using to run ldapmodify command. I need to check some other file size and once this file less than 200kb, i would need to run second batch and so on until file1 is empty.
Quote:
#!/bin/bash
set -x
filesize=200
server=10.11.xxx.xx
filename=fileimport.txt
taofile1=687686.txt
taofile=/var/opt/$taofile1

stty -echo
echo -n "Enter password: "
read passwd
stty echo
context="cn=user1,ou=org1,ou=org2,o=org"
if [[ -s "$filename" ]];then
for lines in $filename
do
head -99997 fileimport.txt >> ldapreadd.ldif && sed -i '1,+99996d' fileimport.txt
if [ -s ldapreadd.ldif ];then
ldapmodify -h $server -p 389 -D $context -w $passwd -v -x -f ldapreadd.ldif &> /dev/null
echo "LDIF script is running. Please wait..."
sleep 60
if [ -f "$taofile" ];then
taofilesize=`stat -c %s ${taofile}`
# if [ "$taofilesize" -ge 200 ];then
while [ `stat -c %s ${taofile}` -ge 200 ]
do
echo " Driver is processing LDIF file. Please wait..."
sleep 60
done
fi
rm -rf ldapreadd.ldif
fi
done
else
echo "$filename file is empty. Exiting script..."
exit
fi

I have 2 issues here. first one script is not reading exact lines as specified. Some times its reading more lines some times less lines. Second issues once it run the first batch, script is exiting. Please advise.

Bash Shell Scripting Need Help Figuring Out Process For Homework - JUST WANT DIRECTIO

Ok yes this is a homework assignment BUT I am NOT looking to have the answers given to me. I am in the 6th week of my first Linux class ever and we are in our few weeks of beginning scripting. I have some ideas of what to do or where to start but not many and no one to bounce any ideas off...we are using UNIX Bash shell so any others I have no clue. The scenario is that I need a script that searches all my users home directories for bad words. I need the script to report to the screen certain info like username and word found and path. It should ask a user if it is good or bad and if bad be put into a file of list of bad file names, if good remove from list and no longer flagged by the script. What I have so far is wanting to somehow do a loop. I do know that if I do a grep -r -e kill -e steal /home/* I get a list of what I need. I also know that the list is separated by delimiters which I can pipe to get a variable for the things I need. I also know that I can put it to a file with a > filename.txt

What I have no clue is how to start a loop that would do this...

for each line in filename.txt
UNAME=...
LOC=...
TXT=...
echo "Username: $UNAME, Line with bad word found: $TXT, and Path and file name: $LOC. Is this a BAD file? (Y)"
Read YORN

if ["$YORN" = "Y" ]; then
>> (line of text from grep) badfiles.txt
fi

Next or whatever goes there...sorry if this is crazy I just really need some direction. I am trying to learn so please don't give me the answer...that will do nothing for me and I will not be able to explain the code I came up with.
