Can't Set Repos In RHEL6.0, Unable To Install Packages

Hi all.
RHEL 6.0 in Virtual Box, network is ok, it can resolve all repos (f.e. dl.fedoraproject.org, nginx.org),
but when I'm trying
Code:
# rpm -Uvh http://nginx.org/packages/rhel/6/noarch/RPMS/nginx-release-rhel-6-0.el6.ngx.noarch.rpm

I get:
Code:
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host

When I'm trying with ip instead name:
Code:
curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404

Only rpmforge repo enabled, but it can't find any packets for install/update.

What can I do?
Thanks.

Hello

I try to install the epel repository so I can install ejabberd.

I do not have epel, it seems :

Code:
[root@serv src]# ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
CentOS-Base.repo CentOS-Debuginfo.repo CentOS-fasttrack.repo CentOS-Media.repo CentOS-Vault.repo n2.repo

So I try to install epel :

Code:
[root@serv src]# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

	package epel-release-6-8.noarch is already installed

But when I try to install ejabberd :

RHEL Changed The W Default Options In 7!!! Is There A Way To Get Them Back?

RHEL changed the w default options in 7!!! (or at least Centos did) Is there a way to get them back?

In particular the -f flag is gone now as a default option, to show the IP, of the person connecting.

Which means instead of a simple 1 letter:
Code:
w

You have to do:
Code:
w -f

or Code:
finger

If there an easy way to add that option back as a default option? (Other than making an alias).

Error After Running Yum Update - Black Screen

Can you guys advise on how to resolve this? We have a machine (RHEL 6 32bit 2.6.32-504.8.1.el6.i686) that boots to a black screen. I can SSH into it from my machine, but when you're physically at the machine it just displays a black screen.

I have tried booting from the previous 2 kernels, but still get the black screen.

I am assuming something got hosed with the video stuff? Its an ATI Radeon 4000series card. Should I install the ATI driver from their website and try? We have never had to do that with these machines though.

Also, when running a yum update, we receive this error. I'm not sure how to resolve this and if resolving this will fix the video issues.

Repo Syntax Issue Rhel/centos

Hello again,

i need to understand once for all the syntax of files.repo.

When i need a repository i create under /etc/yum.repos.d/ the repository file

goofy.repo

with this syntax

[repository_name]
[goofy]
baseurl=ftp:///mydirectory/myrepodir
gpgcheck=0

---
Myrepodir contains all the *.rpm files i need

when i exit and save i get anytime this error

Code:
ftp:///mydirectory/myrepodir/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 6 - ""
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: repobase. Please verify its path and try again

What am i wrong for? How can i just say to my rhel/centos system

Centos /etc/fstab Command Doesn't Mount After Restart

Hi

I am using Centos 6.5 and i am testing Glusterfs.

I have at /etc/hosts :

Code:
123.456.789.000 host1
000.987.654.321 host2

And they can ping each other and all working great...

Glusterfs requires this command:

Code:
mount host1:/gluster-vmstore /home/nginx/public -t glusterfs

and if i run it manually it works great.

But when i restart checking using df -h is gone and is not working until i run it again manualy

I found on a tutorial that this edit on /etc/fstab will work after restart:

Code:
host1:/gluster-vmstore /home/nginx/public glusterfs defaults 0 0

But after restarting it was not working

Any ideas?

Thanks

Having Issues Downloading And Installing Plex.

Don't suppose someone can tell me exactly what to write in order to download and install PMS on Arch? I'm about to throw my computer out of the window.

First I tried:

Code:
sudo pacman -S plex-media-server-plexpass

And it cannot find anyting. I've only managed to find Plex Home Theatre using this method.

Next I tried:

Code:
sudo pacman -U https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.17.986-269b82b/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm

Which resulted in an error stating:

Code:
error: failed retrieving file 'plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm.sig' from downloads.plex.tv : the requested URL returned error: 404
warning: failed to download https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.17.986-269b82b/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm.sig
loading packages...
error: '/var/cache/pacman/pkg/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm' : package missing required signature.

I mean, what am I doing wrong? Can someone please tell me exactly what to type in to download and install PMS?

Cheers
