Hello friends
I want to add hardy heron package to ubuntu 10.04.
I have also try to use synaptic manger to add this. but it is failed in downloading hardy updates
Please help
Thanks
Am running a P4 @ 2.66 with Hardy Heron 8.04.4 .
Have googled a decent amount of commands for terminal to find out that alone.
Saw posts from 2004&9 that said to use Mysql server or Postgresql server to get the benchmark packages to cook the box.
I am going to try and read everything through commands, then decide on new distro.
1st Mint looks easy enduser. Ubuntu is looking kinda' commercial.
Ubuntu still looks like the distro to follow.
If you want to tell me a package that the synaptic will load and let me use, I thank you. All the us.ubuntu.olderversions. server addresses are worthless.
THX again
Paul
Hi,
I haven't used my dell mini with ubuntu operating system for a long time, got fed up with the flaky keyboard. But there are some files on it I need. I know there will be several thousand updates & was prepared to wait however it will not connect (I have entered the latest network key) and I get a whole list of error messages when I load update manager:
"Failed to fetch http:/dell-mini.archive.canonical.com/ubunto/dists/hardy/Release.gpg Could not resolve dell-mini.archive.canonical.com"
Be grateful for guidance
Thanks
Kate
Trying to install traceroute on Ubuntu 14.04.2. I get:
apt-get install traceroute
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package traceroute is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'traceroute' has no installation candidate
Ubuntu 14.10 runs great on my laptop but I think I have dependency problems because EVERY time I install or remove software I get the following error message. However everything seems to run just fine...
"Package operation failed"
"The installation or removal of a software package failed."
...and details shows a massive list of gobbledygook with a lot of:
"insserv: Starting vpnagentd_init depends on rc.local and therefore on system facility `$all' which can not be true!"
I can post the whole message but I'll wait for feedback first.
I am considering on removing all OSX 10.6.8 from my old macbook then installing linux. It is a Mac 2.1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 processor 2 cores. 1 gig memory. What are your thoughts and or recommendations. The machine is a hardy one and I would love to prolong its life.
Best,
JPN
PS, my goal is to recycle all my old machines. I am old but not dead. I am a real newbie.
Hello Sir,
I am new in linux. I want to install ns2.35 on ubuntu 14.04.So for that I have to install ubuntu 14.04.So which option is preferable for installing ubuntu whether by using vmware or by dual booting & also suggest me that whether ubuntu 14.04 is compatible for ns2.35 or not.
installed digiKam 4:3.5.0-Oubuntu 10 and dependent packages from Synaptic Package Manager.
Graphics/digiKam selected - no action
Operating system Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. (LUBUNTU)
I have used digiKam successfully in previous versions of Ubuntu.
(In your LQ tutorial you refer to using 'how-tos' -where are these?-and search for occurence of 'digikam' - have attempted this without success)
(Your tutorial suggests I introduce myself - I have used Ubuntu for many years but only in GUI. My Unix knowledge is near zero - whenever I attempt to understand descriptions in the forums I get stumped by acronyms and terms that are common to other Linux users)
I hope you can help.
