Need Help Installing NS 2.26 With RSVP-TE Patch

Hello,

i need to install NS2 version 2.26 with RSVP-TE patch to do some MPLS simulations.

I'm trying on fedora 8 and when compiling i am getting this error

* Build ns-2.26

Please check http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/ns-problems.html
for common problems and bug fixes.

All X11 packages are installed (libX11-devel libXext-devel libXau-devel libXmu-devel)

Installed CentOS 3.9 (it seems NS2 2.26 installs well on this distro) but when trying to get packages with yum seems the repo is not working anymore.

If any one could help to solve the problem of installation i would greatly appreciate

Error After Running Yum Update - Black Screen

Can you guys advise on how to resolve this? We have a machine (RHEL 6 32bit 2.6.32-504.8.1.el6.i686) that boots to a black screen. I can SSH into it from my machine, but when you're physically at the machine it just displays a black screen.

I have tried booting from the previous 2 kernels, but still get the black screen.

I am assuming something got hosed with the video stuff? Its an ATI Radeon 4000series card. Should I install the ATI driver from their website and try? We have never had to do that with these machines though.

Also, when running a yum update, we receive this error. I'm not sure how to resolve this and if resolving this will fix the video issues.

So I extract an update to a package that creates one of the folders below and then I run "$(find . -name install.sh)" to find and install the update. It seems to go just fine. How? If the other versions were also there? Which install.sh gets run?

How To Simplify Installation Of Kvm

Hi experts,

so the steps to install kvm is this:

Code:
sudo apt-get install qemu-kvm libvirt-bin bridge-utils virt-manager

according to this webpage: http://www.howtogeek.com/117635/how-...nes-on-ubuntu/

Can I make this simpler?

I want to do just one command: sudo apt-get install kvm, and it should call and install all these packages.

Installation Of PMIPv6 Patch In NS-2.33

Hi all,

I am going to install PMIPv6 patch in NS-2.33. I have Fedora - 16 in my Laptop. Before installation of Patch it is asked to "install on the system binutils, gcc, g++, make, autoconf, libX11-dev, tk8.4-dev, libxmu-dev (or libxmu-headers)". Can I get help on how to install all the above in fedora 16. Please help.

I Try To Install Ns2.33 On Ubuntu 10.10 In Order To Run ZRP Protocol

Hello every one
please I need your help to fix my problem to install ns2.33allinone on the ubuntu 10.10 in order to run ZRP protocol for security purpose.
before this time I install every thing correctly as follow
The steps I follow to run the ZRP on the Ubuntu 10.10 and Ns2-allinone-2.33
------------------------------------------------------------------
1. first install the Ubuntu 10.10 on VMwear and download the ns2.33 and exract it in the home directory

2.Ubuntu 10.10 - 32´ is old. you have to replace the text in /etc/apt/sources.list , to be able to install packages.
So you write
$ gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
After the file open remove all the text and past the following text instead it.
#
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-backports main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-backports multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-security main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-security multiverse universe
#

Then save the file and close.

3.Write the following command to update the system
$ sudo apt-get update

4.download the two files from the following link and save it in the home directory

gcc41-compat , `gcc41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb' :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...it?usp=sharing
g++41-compat , `g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb' :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...it?usp=sharing

5.write the following command to install
$ sudo dpkg -i g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb gcc41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb

6.write the following command to update the packages
$sudo apt-get install libx11-dev libxmu-dev libxmu-headers libxt-dev libtool make automake autoconf g++

7. Download the ZRP from the following link and put it in the ns-allinone-2.33 directory
The latest "patch package" is zrp-ns233-patching.tar.gz
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...it?usp=sharing

8. After that you should follow the next steps
$ cd ns-allinone-2.33/
$ tar xvf zrp-ns233-patching.tar.gz
$ export CC=gcc41 CXX=g++41
$ ./install
$ cd ns-2.33/
$ sudo make install

9. Then you can download the example of the ZRP from the following link and run
ZRP examples : zrp-examples-2012.tar.bz2
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...it?usp=sharing

but now when i try to install it again i got this error
after i run "./install" command
#

so please if any one can help me to fix this problem or give me any advice how to run ZRP protocol and the appropriate environment to run it
thanks in advance for your help

Hello

I try to install the epel repository so I can install ejabberd.

I do not have epel, it seems :

	package epel-release-6-8.noarch is already installed

But when I try to install ejabberd :

Utilizing Yum To Update Rpms Based On Linux Security Notices

Hello all.

I'm using RHEL 6.5 Workstation and have a single RHEL system connected to the internet do download rpms based on Security Notices from Red Hat. While on the RHEL system and internet I perform the below:

yum install --downloadonly --resolve --downloaddir=<directory> <package>

My goal is to ensure I capture any dependencies (which is a nightmare)and thus I use the --resolve. When I update my RHEL systems not connected to the internet I perform a yum update. For some yum updates it's goes pretty smooth but for others I'm constantly getting errors about conflicts or other similar errors. An example of when yum updates don't work can be seen below:

Is there something I'm not doing correctly? Again some work and some do not, as seen above the example where it does not work. Is this a larger problem? Although I'm using RHEL 6.5 on the system where I obtain my security updates are my RHEL 6.5 systems which are not connected to the internet so different (in regards to what files are installed) that dependencies differ greatly and I'm not fully appreciating the environment for my off-line systems?

A million thanks in advance,
Johnny Mac
