How Can I Record With My Tv@nywhere Card In Knoppix 7.4.

I am able to view my tv@nywhere card with tv time, but when I tried to record with VLC media player I couldn't switch to the proper source. How can I switch the source or what other program can I use with knoppix 7.4. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

How To Duplicate A SD Card With 2 Partitions Under Debian

For my cell phone, I used an app named link2sd with a SD card. Because the current 8GB card is filled up, I got a 32GB card to take its place. For the link2sd app, the SD card is partitioned into 2 partitions. First partition is formatted to fat32 and the 2nd one is ext2 format. What is the proper way to copy content of these partitions to the new card? Thanks in advance.

Record Buffer Provided By Awk

we do have a record buffer in awk utility that holds one complete record of a data file.

I want to know that if record buffer changes during script processing, then when are these changes reflected back to the data file?

Are they reflected immediately or is there an in-built mechanism available to schedule this change?

Knoppix Cant See Hard Drvie From Gui

Im experimenting. I loaded knoppix, my older version on cd used to work great but I suppose the 2005 cd just met its end of life. The machine Im on boots fine to Windows I just want to play around with Knoppix.

Anyway, I downloaded burned and loaded KNoppix 7.4. Im on it as I type.

pix@Microknoppix:/dev$ cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name

240 0 10608000 cloop0
252 0 2115392 zram0
8 0 244198584 sda
8 1 1536000 sda1
8 2 233490432 sda2
8 3 9170944 sda3
11 0 4182848 sr0

and

knoppix@Microknoppix:~$ fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 250.1 GB, 250059350016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 30401 cylinders, total 488397168 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x17807de0

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 2048 3074047 1536000 27 Hidden NTFS WinRE
/dev/sda2 * 3074048 470054911 233490432 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT
/dev/sda3 470054912 488396799 9170944 17 Hidden HPFS/NTFS

That crusty old version of KNoppix .. I think 5.x era showed a hda1 or sda1 on the desktop. I could just navigate that through the windows files.

So I guess Im asking... how do I get the harddrive to show up in the gui .. or how do I unhide the drives ?

How Do I Get Sound In Mint?

Hello Everyone,

I installed Linux Mint about four days ago, after a few hitches that I was able to figure out on my own, I got everything up and running and am enjoying my experience. There is one problem however, that I haven't been able to fix myself, so now I'm asking for the communities help. Since day 1 I haven't had any sound from Mint. I've tried videos through Firefox, music on Banshee, and system sounds but nothing is working at all. I have spent the better part of the last three days ripping my hair out and jumping from source to source looking for an answer and so far nothing has worked. I have tried a lot of things including forcing ALSA to reload, and even uninstalling and reinstalling ALSA and Pulse all together. Therein lies my next issue, I followed a guide off of the forums to try uninstalling and reinstalling ALSA and Pulse and it seemed all went according to plan, I reveived no errors during the process, but now my little sound icon in the system tray is missing.

Here is the info on my audio device:

Code: Select all
Audio: Card-1: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 00:14.2
Card-2: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Device 9840 driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 00:01.1
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture ver: k3.13.0-37-generic

Any help is greatly appreciated as having no sound, while not vital, is a major inconvenience.

Thank you!

Install Fglrx Driver Instead The Open Source Radeon In Debian 7?

Hello, my video card "Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Cedar PRO [Radeon HD 5450/6350]"
create something which can be seen with dmesg "drm: registered panic notifier".
Should I install the fglrx driver instead of keeping the open source radeon as per current install?
I have antix which is a debian wheezy based system https://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary# ... 2Wheezy.22
Thanks for any advice before I do it.

Is There A Way To Have A Script Called Source, That Can Be Run Without The Full Path?

Is there a way to have a script called source, that can be run without the full path?

Ex:
When I run:
export PATH=/home/user:$PATH
source

I get:
Code:
$ source
bash: source: filename argument required
source: usage: source filename [arguments]

However I want it to run my script called source:
Code:
$ cat source
#!/bin/bash
echo "Hello World"

Is there way to override a shell builtin in the PATH var or some other way?

Can't Play Avi File In Parole Media Player

Hi. Running Xubuntu 14.10 in Dell Optiplex 170L. Parole Media Player is on 14.10 but it crashes when it attempts to play an .avi file. Looking around some people suggested VLC media player, but on the Ubuntu Software Center it doesn't say it handles .avi.
