"make Install" In A Custom Directory ?

hi,

Because i am cross compiling busybox for an arm board and can't install directy busybox on it (it don't have apt-get/sudo/make) i tried to compile busybox with arm-linux-gcc and "make" it in a custom directory with /usr/ /bin/ sbin/ this way i could copy paste the folder and the exe in a clean root and transfert this root to my board.

Sadly i don't seems to be able to change the installation patch.
i tried with :
Code:
make install PREFIX=/home/blabla1/blabla2/blabla3

but when going into the blabla3 folder i find no file (/usr/ /bin/ and /sbin/ are present because i created them myself).

./configure can't be used because the file don't exist.

Any idea on how i could change the installation patch ?

Problem With (instalation Of?) Mysql.h On C

Hi, I've just recently installed MySQL connector/c from source code on my Slackware 14.1 x64

I read the official instructions of the connector but I felt a bit disorientated when I read:
Code:
1 -Change location to the top-level directory of the source distribution.

I interpreted that I have to go to the "highest" directory Code:
/

So I wrote: Code:

        # cd /

root@- /# tar xzvf /home/normal/Downloads/mysql-connector-c-6.1.6-src.tar.gz

root@- /# cd /mysql-connector-c-6.1.6-src/

root@- /mysql-connector-c-6.1.6-src# cmake -G "Unix Makefiles"

root@- /mysql-connector-c-6.1.6-src# make

root@- /mysql-connector-c-6.1.6-src# make install

Then I did:
Code:
ln -s /usr/local/mysql-5.6.25/include /usr/include

But when I try to compile a program in c with #include <mysql.h> i get this error:
Code:
# gcc ctemp.c
In file included from ctemp.c:2:0:
/usr/include/mysql.h:57:27: fatal error: mysql_version.h: No such file or directory
 #include "mysql_version.h"
                           ^

What can I do? Thanks a lot and sorry for poor english

Inetd Listening But No Connection (ftp/Telnet)

Hello,

I try to use a ftp daemon and a Telnet daemon with inetd and the BusyBox v1.19.0 on a linux 2.6.24.

When running inetd and then checking what is listening with "netstat -an |grep LISTEN" i have :
Code:
netstat: /proc/net/tcp6: No such file or directory
netstat: /proc/net/udp6: No such file or directory
netstat: /proc/net/raw6: No such file or directory
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:21 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:23 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

ftp port 21 and Telnet port 23 seems to be listening.

My inetd.conf file is :

Code:
#<service_name> <sock_type> <proto> <flags> <user> <server_path> <args>

21 stream tcp nowait root ftpd ftpd /etc
telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/telnetd

I have no rule in my hosts.deny so nothing should be stopped and i have no iptables firewall in place too.

When typing "ftp://ipofthetarget" in a web browser i have a error :

Code:
504 Gateway Timeout
Gateway timeout expired while waiting for server response.

And when trying to Telnet from another computer or "Telnet localhost" from the board i have :
Code:
# telnet 10.2.29.201
Trying 10.2.29.201...
connected to 10.2.29.201.
Escape character is '^]'

Connection closed by foreign host.

This would mean that the connection for Telnet exist but why is it closing ?

Thank you for your future answers !

UPDATE 1 :
If i try to run telnetd like this :
/usb/sbin/telnet -l /bin/sh
i can connect anonymously from another computer, not perfect because i would like a user/password but still of use.
The problem with the ftp daemon still exist.

UPDATE 2 :
Trying from Windows cmd or linux terminal : ftp ipofthetarget seems to work
Not perfect because i would like a user/password too but still of use.

I am still open for suggestion for the user/password thing. I am not deleting the thread in case someone interested about this exist.

.o: File Not Recognized: File Format Not Recognized When Compiling

Hello,

I am working on a board (sbc6000x with at91sam9261 micro, linux 2.6.24 to be precise) and having some fun making script i wanted to make real application.
The board is coming with a cross compilation toolchain. When trying to make a simple "hello world" executable to print on the terminal there is no problem.
I open my terminal, give the path of the compiler, cd into the folder where my .c file is and then i type :
Code:
arm-linux-gcc -o hello hello.c

Which create my executable "hello" and this one is working. But like i said, this program only played with the terminal.

The board is starting with a script calling another executable which use the lcd display, i have the source of this executable. My idea was to look at what was in the source of this application (lots of folders and files) in order to understand how it was working. I wanted to test the toolchain on the source (with the makefile) to see if i was able to generate an executable from a application with folderS/fileS but when i try to "make" it i have this error.

In my understanding this is an object file but aside from that i don't see why it would not works.

Thank you for your future answers !

Need To Install The N53 PCI Network Card From Asus Without Installing Anything Before

Hi

I am new to kali linux and have got a fresh install with all the current updates (without any new repositories). I am really interested in aircrack and wifi exploitation. But before i can do any of that i need to install my second network adapter, the asus n53 pcie. I am able to type this because my motherboard came with its own intergrated wifi adapter, the aetheros (something). That was working out of the box as soon as kali linux was installed, however i need a proper network adapter (the n53) to make use of my 3rd party long range antenna (it can pick up networks over 600m away ).

I am attempting to install my asus n53 pcie network adapter but have had no success at all, most likely because i have no idea what to do once i have extracted the driver. Currently it is sitting in my home folder. It has a few folders and files in it, with these being the folders

(chips, common, include, os, rate_ctrl, sta and tools)

and these being the files

(iwpriv_usage.txt, makefile, readme_sta_pci, rt2860STA.dat, rt2860staCarddat, sta_ate_iwpriv_usage.txt.)

In the readme file it says this in the instructions:

1> $tar -xvzf DPB_RT2860_Linux_STA_x.x.x.x.tgz
go to "./DPB_RT2860_Linux_STA_x.x.x.x" directory.

2> In Makefile
set the "MODE = STA" in Makefile and chose the TARGET to Linux by set "TARGET = LINUX"
define the linux kernel source include file path LINUX_SRC
modify to meet your need.

3> In os/linux/config.mk
define the GCC and LD of the target machine
define the compiler flags CFLAGS
modify to meet your need.

=> #>cd wpa_supplicant-0.5.7

4> $make
# compile driver source code
# To fix "error: too few arguments to function ”„iwe_stream_add_event"
=> $patch -i os/linux/sta_ioctl.c.patch os/linux/sta_ioctl.c

5> $cp RT2860STA.dat /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat

6> load driver
#[kernel 2.4]
# $/sbin/insmod rt2860sta.o
# $/sbin/ifconfig ra0 inet YOUR_IP up

#[kernel 2.6]
# $/sbin/insmod rt2860sta.ko
# $/sbin/ifconfig ra0 inet YOUR_IP up

7> unload driver
$/sbin/ifconfig ra0 down
$/sbin/rmmod rt2860sta

And this to me looks like another language. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT if someone could give me step by step instructions on how to install this, without skipping on anything. I will even pay 10000 dogecoin if someone helps me! I have been searching youtube tutorials for 3 hours (lol) for it and havent found anything. Please help me!

Thanks

Executable Not Found From /usr/local/bin

Hi,

I installed ghostscript via yum package manager. Later I wanted a newer version of ghostscript and compiled it from source. "make install" placed the gs executable file under /usr/local/bin/gs. This works if I run the command with absolute path, but if try to run gs, the shell will output

"-bash: /usr/bin/gs: No such file or directory"

if I echo the path variable it will display

/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

If i run whereis it will give me the correct path
gs: /usr/local/bin/gs

How do I make it work so that typing "gs" will run the executable file from the /usr/local/bin/gs?

(I am using Centos 6)

Thanks.

Getting An Error When Running Make.

Trying to install software/drivers for wireless dongle on my Fedora Linux box. I have downloaded and expanded my files into my /home/me/Downloads.

In my example: /home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3
This is where the make file is.

I run make and get an error:
"make -C /lib/modules/3.4.2-1.fc16.i686/build SUBDIRS=/home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3/os/linux modules
make: *** /lib/modules/3.4.2-1.fc16.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [LINUX] Error 2"

The directory "/home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3/os/linux" does exist.

What am I missing? I have run it as myself and root and get the same error.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

TIA,

I just don't get it; no folder seems responsible for the "365Gb"...

Any idea on how I could try to find out where those "365GB" are ?
