hi
I am trying to create a LIVE USB so that I can boot UBUNTU through my LIVE USB and have play around with it and if I like it I would like to deploy it on my netbook.
Here is my story.
I got ACER ASPIRE one net book with Windows 7. 32BIT
1 Installed the Universal USB creator
2 Created the Desktop UBUNTU USB drive by following the options given
3 Booted my system then got this error.
SYSLINUX: No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
Googled this error and found a solution to rename folders.
Did that.
Rebooted and face this error now.
Counld not find kernel image /isolinux/isolinux.cfg.
Can someome please help me on this. Will be very thankful.
I just wanted to post and say how incredibly impressed I am with the whole linux thing! I know you guys have been at this for a while but for someone like me to walk in cold it really is an amazing system. I just ran a full version of Ubuntu studio from my DVD player FROM A FIVE YEAR OLD DELL!!!!!!! It's free, it's incredibly fast and it still hasn't crashed... And I don't know what I'm doing so it really should crash.
I amazed that linux is not the number 1 system in the world. I will make a prediction and say that Linux is going to start to become equally as popular as the big two. It's only a matter of time.
This is not a question. I just want to say to all the programmer guys out there and all the programmers that have contributed to this system..... THANK YOU. you really have changed the world. I'm going to keep going with my exploration and keep asking annoying questions on the forum but I am proud to be a member of the Linux family. Keep it going guys. Brilliant stuff.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS 64 bit.
Recently, everytime I now run Shotwell (which I got from Ubuntu Software Center), it starts auto-importing photos, then abruptly crashes.
I've used it for a couple years w/no problems like that.
I tried today removing it and reinstalling it with same problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012, which came with a Windows XP operating system. I would like to change to a Linux operating system. Which one would be best for such limited--small capacity--hardware?
Hi. Sorry to be so stupid, but I just managed to load and install this Linux (which I really like a lot) on my previously windows <--(bad) system.
But now I need to upgrade some software (like Adobe flash), and I have no clue how to do this. I understand I should go to my original linux distrubutor, and select software thru them (my "Linux distro").
But actually, it's been awhile since I did the install, and I dont exactly remember where I even got this distribution. (I know, I'm dumb--sorry).
Is there a way I can look at my linux system files and see who my distribution is thru, and where is their website. Or would it be easier if I just went thru the whole download and install of linux again <--(not really looking forward to that).
Or even, am I wrong about going thru the distro to do installs/upgrades?
Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated.
Long Live Linux !! David K
Hi, my name is Daniel & I've been considering trying out Linux. A friend of mine says he's got Linux's Ubuntu, & says he really likes it. I've got experience building computers, & Computer Networking. I've got a Desktop w/a free (empty, unformatted) 150 GB Seagate HDD, so I'd like to try using that HDD for a version of Linux. I'm running Win. 7 Ultimate on my primary drive, but I had to install the Win. 7 Ult. 32 bit disc for it to run successfully. I'm considering a dual boot system.
The System I built has an ASUS (A8N-SLI) 64 bit, Socket 939, NVidia N-Force4 Motherboard, w/an AMD, Athlon XP 4000+ 64 bit CPU. I've got 2 ASUS/NVidia G-Force N6800GT PCI Express Graphics Cards, w/256 MB DDR3 RAM each (using my SLI). I've got 2-1 GB 184 pin sticks of Corsair 3200+, 400 Mhz, CL-2 DDR-RAM. I' ve also got a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Sound System (4.1), w/internal PCI Card & external control box that runs w/Fire Wire. I've also got an Acer 24" Digital monitor, & 1 CD/DVD Burner,& 1 NEC Dual Layer DVD Burner.
I went into detail, just in case my system has something requiring a certain version of Linux. My main problem is, I don't know anything about coding, so I guess I need a version of Linux w/a robust GUI. I thank you in advance for your time & consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. -)

I am running Antergos Linux 64 bit on virtual box. when I try to do full system upgrade I get a error:
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: virtualbox-guest-modules: requires linux<4.0
I am using Ubuntu as my host OS and it's kernel version is 3.13.0-49-generic and in Antergos is using 3.19.3-3-ARCH. I guess both are less than linux 4.0
I don't know how to solve this.

Hi,
I am currently working on a Embedded system (linux 2.6.24) and need to set a ftp daemon on it.
I have the busybox v1.4.2 on it but it don't have ftpd on it.
After searching on internet i find tons of way to install a ftp daemon on normal linux computer but no explanation on how to do it on an Embedded devive.
I am not the one who installed the distro and busybox, i have no knowledge on how to make this. I have no sudo/apt-get/make command on my system.
