Hi Guys,
Team i want to install xinetd on Oracle Enterprise Linux, but my server is in a secured zone and has no access to internet. Due to this yum install xinetd is not working. Can you guide me on how manually i can install xinetd, where to download and the steps to install it.
Any pointers will be of great help.
Thanks,

Hello guys, I am new to using Linux and trying to setup telnet server on CentOS 7. After installing with "yum install telnet telnet-server".
I tried editing the /etc/xinetd.d/telnet file which I could not find. Please what am I not doing right?
I have a PC with around 2 GB of RAM, a hard drive, a DVD drive, and USB ports, in a remote vacation home with no Internet access. I would like to install either Mint or Ubuntu and applications like LibreOffice.
In my permanent residence, I use Win 8.1 in a PC with internet access and Virtualbox to run other operating systems. I can use this to prepare the installation disks.
Is it possible to install the OS and then install software from a DVD or USB drive to a PC without Internet access? Also, is it possible to come up with a customized install disk containing the OS and software to install? If so, how do I go about preparing the installation disks?
Thanks for the help.
I am using Suse 12 Enterprise.
I would like to use sftp and disable ftp.
Presently I am able to do both.
I stopped vsftpd.service.
Tried comment on ports 20 & 21 in /etc/services.
Stop FTP server using YAST.
Stopped xinetd tftp service using YAST.
Is it wise to turn this service off?
How do I display the status for sftp and ftp?
I am still able to ftp.
Where is the kill switch?
I have download Centos 6.5 and 6.5 and then install it on Virtualbox , but it is wonder that it do not prompt to ask to select what package need to be install during the installation process .
I checked that only 700M HD space is used to insall , therefore , it should be only minimal installation .
what I have download is CentOS-6.5-i386-bin-DVD1 and CentOS-6.6-i386-bin-DVD1 , the file size is 3.8G .
would advise how can I select package to install or run full install ?
thanks.
Hello all
I have a new laptop (Lenovo Z50-70, Corei3, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, Nvidia graphics) that came with only FreeDOS. I want to install Windows 8.1 and Linux (preferably Slackware64 14.1). Are there any pointers/tips (regarding UEFI or secure boot) I should keep in mind before installing Windows 8.1 so it doesn't conflict with my Linux install later.

Hi. Sorry to be so stupid, but I just managed to load and install this Linux (which I really like a lot) on my previously windows <--(bad) system.
But now I need to upgrade some software (like Adobe flash), and I have no clue how to do this. I understand I should go to my original linux distrubutor, and select software thru them (my "Linux distro").
But actually, it's been awhile since I did the install, and I dont exactly remember where I even got this distribution. (I know, I'm dumb--sorry).
Is there a way I can look at my linux system files and see who my distribution is thru, and where is their website. Or would it be easier if I just went thru the whole download and install of linux again <--(not really looking forward to that).
Or even, am I wrong about going thru the distro to do installs/upgrades?
Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated.

Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list

and I read many post to solve this problem and as I understand from it fedora 14 is now unsupported. so please if you can help me to fix this problem or post any url to download the last version of fedora in order to install ns2.35allinone to run zrp protocol.

I have multiple computers to install Linux onto.
Some of my computers do not have DVD drives.
I want to boot Linux from C:, not the USB drive.
Do I download the ISO onto a C: drive.
Copy the image to the USB with the image mover.
My confusion is that this all seems to make a boot-able USB drive.
How do I install OpenSuse without having a DVD and end up booting from the C: drive?
Do I first have to boot from the USB?
I just built a new rig and when trying to install Mint 17 I get software rendering mode on install only. And no internet connection so I am lost as to what to do or why.
