Having Issues Downloading And Installing Plex.

Don't suppose someone can tell me exactly what to write in order to download and install PMS on Arch? I'm about to throw my computer out of the window.

First I tried:

Code:
sudo pacman -S plex-media-server-plexpass

And it cannot find anyting. I've only managed to find Plex Home Theatre using this method.

Next I tried:

Code:
sudo pacman -U https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.17.986-269b82b/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm

Which resulted in an error stating:

Code:
error: failed retrieving file 'plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm.sig' from downloads.plex.tv : the requested URL returned error: 404
warning: failed to download https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.17.986-269b82b/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm.sig
loading packages...
error: '/var/cache/pacman/pkg/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm' : package missing required signature.

I mean, what am I doing wrong? Can someone please tell me exactly what to type in to download and install PMS?

Cheers

Location Of Plex "Data" Folder When Installed On Arch

Trying to get my media server up and running again. In order to size my partitions correctly though, I could do with knowing where Plex Stores its "Data Folder" as spoken about in this clip at 7:50.

Any ideas?

I've found this page, but just wanted to confirm that this was the folder talked about in the video.

Any info would be good.

Looking To Build A Linux Server, But Have Requirements, Not Sure What To Use Or Build

Hey Everyone,
I'm pretty new to linux, I'm a long time mac user, and have been using a Mac Mini as my Plex and wordpress server for some time. Looking at Apples latest generation of Mac Minis, it looks like they no longer are a great option for servers. So here's my setup and wants in a nut shell.

Currently my Mac Mini hosts 3 wordpress sites and is my Plex server. The machine is running OS 10.10.2 Yosemite with Server running, and has 2 Drobo Gen 2 devices attached via Firewire 800.

I use 1 Drobo for my Plex Media, and the other drobo is used for machine backup.

Reading online, Looks like the Drobo 1 and 2 Genereations only show up as 2TB max segments on Linux So I would scrap the Drobo cases and put all the drives internal into the linux server tower.

I want to build a new Linux server that can take over these tasks. So my wants would be, A linux server that can host more than 1 wordpress site, run plex, and would have a RAID setup similar to Drobo, where I can add more drives or replace smaller/failed drives easily enough (doesn't have to be automatic rebuild like the drobo, as long as its possible and not to tricky to do)

what Linux Server OS and other options should I be looking at?

thanks everyone in advance!!

Problem With Epel

Hello

I try to install the epel repository so I can install ejabberd.

I do not have epel, it seems :

Code:
[root@serv src]# ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
CentOS-Base.repo  CentOS-Debuginfo.repo  CentOS-fasttrack.repo  CentOS-Media.repo  CentOS-Vault.repo  n2.repo

So I try to install epel :

Code:
[root@serv src]# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm
Retrieving http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100]
	package epel-release-6-8.noarch is already installed

But when I try to install ejabberd :

Code:
[root@serv src]# yum install ejabberd

Something is wrong with epel.

Mounting Separate Partitions That Are Not "normal"

I want my Plex Media Server, Web Server, and Honeypot running on separate partitions. I've formatted them how I want:

SDA7 is my MediaCentre, formatted in XFS, I'd like this mounted as a separate partition and I'd like this to be the location of the Plex Media Server.

SDA8 is my WebServer, formatted in ext4. I'd also like this mounted as a separate partition and be the location of my Web Server (Probs use LAMP and an FTP Download Client).

SDA9 is my Honeypot server, formatted in XFS. Again, I'd like this to be mounted on a separate partition and will be where my Honeypot Server lives.

I'd also like all three servers to be running on VM's to help isolate them.

How do I go about accomplishing this? I'm a Windows native. In Windows I'd have partitioned everything, Created the virtual machines, moved them to their respective partitions, then installed all of the applications.

First things first, how/what do I mount these drives as? Can I just mount them as /mnt/mediaserver and /mnt/webserver etc? Will these mount points then be recognised?

CentOS 7 - Not Able To Open Vmplayer

I have CentOS 7 64 bit. I have installed open-vm-tools on it.
I have installed vmplayer using
Code:
./VMware-Player-6.0.1-1379776.x86_64.bundle

Now when I try to open vmplayer on it, it does not load 'Virtual Network Device'
and shows error in terminal
Code:
Failed to build vmnet. Failed to execute the build command.

When I check status of vmware, it shows
Code:
Module vmnet not loaded

If I try to run
Code:
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

It gives me following error.
Code:
make: Leaving directory `/tmp/modconfig-2NfFeS/vmnet-only'
Unable to install all modules.

I am not able to open VMplayer, please help me to open it.

Thanks

Help Mounting A CD-R/DVD-R, Then Using Dd To Write To Them.

I can't seem to mount a CD-R or DVD-R, doesn't matter if it is blank or not.
However, when I use a program such as Brasero, I am able to write to them. I cannot use dd to write to them.

This is the output of trying to mount/unmount.
Code:
root@delarocha-> mount /dev/sr0 /media/cd
mount: /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
       missing codepage or helper program, or other error
       In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so.

root@delarocha-> umount /dev/sr0
umount: /dev/sr0: not mounted
root@delarocha-> umount /media/cd
umount: /media/cd: not mounted
root@delarocha-> umount /media/cdrom
umount: /media/cdrom: not mounted

dmesg | tail
Code:
root@delarocha-> dmesg | tail
[ 1536.299777] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0]
[ 1536.299804] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE

[ 1536.299846] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 0
[ 1536.299915] EXT4-fs (sr0): unable to read superblock

I don't think it can be anything wrong with the disk, since it is a untouched disk.
Note: The results of everything(apart from dmesg I would assume), are the same for a CD-R and DVD-R

This is what I get while trying to dd a .iso and .mp4, respectively.

Code:
web@delarocha-> dd if=/dev/sr0 of=~/Downloads/xubuntu-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes (0 B) copied, 0.000377316 s, 0.0 kB/s

Code:
web@delarocha-> dd if=/dev/sr0 of=~/Videos/The\ Hobbit/The\ Hobbit\ The\ Desolation\ of\ Smaug.mp4
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes (0 B) copied, 0.000377179 s, 0.0 kB/s

uname -a
Code:
Linux delarocha 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt2-1 (2014-12-08) x86_64 GNU/Linux

When I used lsblk when I close the disk tray, it shows it mounted.
Code:
sr0                     11:0    1     2K  0 rom

But after I use the dd command to write the .iso, it disappears.

Here is my /etc/fstab
Code:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#

# /boot was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=5bbedec0-6e3d-4185-91e0-292a72585908 /boot           ext2    defaults        0       2
/dev/mapper/delarocha-swap_1 none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/sr0        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
/dev/sdb1       /media/usb0     auto    rw,user,noauto  0       0

I have also tried replacing /dev/sr0 in the above commands with /media/cdrom0.

Ubuntu Directories

Hi there. I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed. Actually I have been doing a lot of work in this OS for about a year. The thing I cannot still comprehend is how to find files I installed. In this particular case I need glut.h for g++ compiler. So I go here, do this command;

Code:
sudo apt-get install freeglut3-dev

And find out that I already have the newest version (which I have suspected since I recall installing it).

So, the next step is to find the glut.h file and reference it with #include command. I cannot find it anywhere. This website says it has to be he

Code:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglut*

Why's the asterisk? Is it a footnote or part of the code?

I don't seem to have /usr/ directory. I cannot find it anywhere.

How does Ubuntu directory work?

Thanks, - A.

Headless Libreoffice Doesn't Create File

I am trying to convert a PDF document from an Excel and PowerPoint document. I installed it and ran the command. It gives no warning.. Just doesn't create a new PDF document. I've successfully done this before, but I think it was a different server. I've checked file permissions, but don't think it is the issue (I've tried as a normal user and as root).

I could convert doc, docx, and txt files, but not xls, xlsx, ppt, and pptx files.

Thoughts why? Is there a verbose option or a log file which I could check for clues?

Thank you
