Burned Linux 17.1 Disc Is Not Bootable

I downloaded Linux Mint "Rebecca". When I open the ISO it gave me a window to burn the ISO to disc. After I burned to disc the disc is not bootable.

How To Get A Linux That Fits On A CD?

I am having problems with my Sony Vaio windows
it boots up saying (on a black screen, grey text):
==============================================
Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

No matter how many times i tried to restart and even tried F10 repeatedly or Alt-F10 I can't get to any other screen other than the above screen.

So I thought ah to hell with windows on this machine. I'll just install a linux distro because it's for my uncle all he really needs is internet and watch youtube videos/movies.

I have successfully burned and installed Fedora before on other machines using LiveCDs when they had CDs.

This time I tried to burn the DVD since it's it doesn't fit on the CD (I got my ISO from http://download.fedoraproject.org/pu...86_64-21-5.iso)
But when i inserted my DVD and restarted the same black screen appears.

So i have been looking for an older version of Fedora that fits on a CD (I am thinking maybe it'll boot from a CD, not sure though) but can't find any.

Any thoughts or solution to my problem?

Thanks in advance.

Completely New To Linux, Cannot Get Mint Cinnamon To Launch Dual Boot Install

Hi friends. I have to say right off the bat, this is basically my first time trying to install Linux by myself. After reading this forum and others, and tech sites, I decided Linux Mint looked the most to what I am used to, which is Windows 7.

Here is my CPU-ID Info - http://valid.x86.fr/5ya0sx

I downloaded Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 64bit (The one found on this link, http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=172).
I burned the img to a DVD with Nero Burning ROM. I wanted to boot from the disc, and the Linux started to show it's logo, and I waited for a few minutes, and I finally thought something was going to happened, but this showed up, (Screenshot) http://i.imgur.com/oELzKCg.jpg.
So basically I shut down my computer and here I am. I have eno experience as to what I am supposed to do when I get that message. Frankly I did not see this type of message when looking through step by step instructions about how to install Mint allongside W7.
Can someone please tell me, for the love of Star Trek Voyager and all that is Holy, how do I install Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon as a dual boot on a Windows7 system.

Thank You

Can Disk Boot Ubuntu But Not Mint

I recently purchased a laptop that came with Windows 8.1 as the OS. I am trying to switch it over to Linux Mint 17.1 (Rebecca). I found an Ubuntu disk loader that I placed on a DVD and it boots just fine. Downloaded the 32-bit Linux Mint .I so and burned it to a DVD. Tried to boot from it and nothing. Being new, the problem pretty much has to be something insanely simple but I sure can't find it. Would really appreciate any expertise out there.

Apparently My Discs Are Too Small?

Hello all.

I have been helped with a link to dl the debian live. However, I go to burn them and Power2go tells me the disc doesn't have the space. I am using Memorex 700mb 40x CD-R. Is there a smaller version of the live or will I have to do a hard install? I have found a netinst if that is the case. Please forgive my ignorance.

Testing Tails Distro For The First Time And Unable To Connect To The Internet With It

Hello,
I am trying out a GNU-plus-Linux distribution called "Tails" for the first time. Tails is the distro that provides anonymity for the user by forcing all network traffic to go through the Tor network system. I am testing out Tails version 1.4.
Tails is a live DVD disc. It boots in live mode directly from the DVD and optical drive.
However, once I was booted into the desktop for the first time, it seems to not have been able to automatically find and configure my internet connection.
When I hover the pointer over the twin PC's icon in the system tray at the top right hand corner it says "No network connection".
Then, just to make sure, I opened the "Tor browser" and it gave me an error message that says "The proxy server is refusing connections".
Then to make triple sure, I opened the "Unsafe web browser" and it gave me the error message that says "Error No DNS server was obtained through DHCP or manualy configured in Network Manager".
So as a new user of this distro, I'm not sure on where to go and what to do. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Linux Mint 17 Not Mounting Blank DVD-R Or Blank CD-R

When I insert a blank DVD-R or CD-R I get an error message stating "location already mounted" and I cannot burn anything on the disk. Drives will read disks with content already burned onto disks. I've been researching this for some time now and haven't been able to find a solution but there appears to many more out there experiencing the same problem. I am using Mint 17 32 bit. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
