O/s: Xandros 3.0.3 Business
Laptop: Dellc840
Given: Wireless card recognized by laptop and executable driver file sitting waiting for installation.

Question:When I click on the .exe file (driver file) it opens and installs somewhere that I can't find, even with the Tools - Find Files/Folders option using the *.inf file format as a search handle.
How do I control where this file opens to? If I could control where it opens to, I could then find it to install it for use.

Which Distro For Laptop?

im using the latest version of ubuntu on a 4 year old dell 780 optiplex and I am more than impressed with the speed and agility of the machine. Im so impressed that I have asked my friend for an old dell laptop so I can go mobile with this thing.
my question is.... do i install the same distro for a laptop as i am using on this desktop or is there a widely used laptop distro that the linux experts always use or at least on avarage use more than any other.
thanks guys

Wireless Has Bad Connection From RT-N66R Gigabit Router

I bought an Asus Wireless Router RT-N66R yesterday, and it has successfully hooked up to everything around my home, except for my personal laptop. I run 14.04 Trusty Tsar on it. The wireless works for about 30 seconds before the computer stops recognizing it, and then I have to reconnect it again by clicking on the network name. Everything else in the house works great with it, and for the 30 or so seconds it stays connected to my laptop, my laptop works great as well. Also, when I am connected to Facebook, it tends to let me continue IMing people, even if I have no connection anywhere else. I can usually google my way to an answer, but I am really stumped on this one, please help!

Laptop Or Chromebook

I'm looking at getting a laptop to install linux for use with audio recording software ardour. But I'm looking at chromebooks with their ssd drives and it seems like a better idea than a laptop. Am I missing the point? Is there some reason, either the processor, ram or anything else that would make a laptop a better choice than a chromebook? The chromebook is $200 and the laptop is about $700. Will the chromebook run everything a laptop will run?

Kernal Panics With Linux Mint 17 And 17.1

I get kernel panics and computer shut down when trying to install and run Linux Mint 17 Mate and Linux Mint 17.1 on an older HP laptop. The laptop is a Pavilion dv 5140 with 2.0GHz AMD Turion chip, 2.0 Gigs ram and 120GB hard drive. Linux is the only software installed on the computer. Yet, I think my problem is probably related to the hardware? Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this situation? Thank you.
