Is There A Simple Way To Remove XP And Then Install Window 7 In A Dual Boot System ?

Hi guys,

For my dual boot system, I first installed window XP followed by Linux fedora 19 and the system has been booting and working fine without
problem.

Now, I would like to remove window XP and install Window 7,
so, I need to remove the partition window XP is on, and then
do a fresh window 7 install. Is there is simple and easy way
of doing this ?

I have window XP, a window 7 and a linux fedora installation disk.

Thanks.

Connecting To Lubuntu Via Hotspot And Controlling It Possible? Like A Website.

Good Day my Linux Friends! I was wondering if anybody can help me with an interesting project i am working on?

I have an interesting issue in which I have a Lubuntu 14.04, that I am working to set up as a hotspot hub. That means when the banana pi/ rasberry pi is spitting out wifi signal, I can connect to it, a chrome window or ie window will pop up and i can sign in and start manipulating the device?

So essentially a piratebox with a linux system that you can login into.

I am curious if that is possible?? I have scoured the net and haven't found the right thing, anybody know any good projects they can point me too?

Dual Boot Windows / CentOS7 Problem

I have a Toshiba Laptop that had a Dual Boot of Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17 on it and both OS's worked fine. I've been wanting to use CentOS 7 as my primary OS so that I can become more familar with RPM management and proceeded to remove my Mint installation and replace it with the CENTOS 7 installation, and the install completed successfully. HOWEVER, here's my problem.....

When my laptop starts up, I don't see GRUB nor do I have any option of selecting whether to run Windows or CentOS. It automatically loads up Centos 7. When I do a 'sudo fdisk -l', I can see that SDA1 is an NTFS drive, and when I try the following 'sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/Main\ Drive' I get an error message saying that I can't mount an NTFS drive.

Am I missing something or is there a way to access my Windows files from within Centos. I was able to do this with Mint without an issue, but unable to see any of my windows drives because I can't mount an NTFS drive.

I have no problem with keeping CENTOS as my only OS on this laptop, however, I do need to access the files from the Window's partition, and if anyone can help me to access my files, that would be totally awesome.

Thank you in advance for reading through this and for any help offered.....

VitrualBox - How To Show OS Window From Headless ?

Hi All

I'm trying to bring virtual guest from headless mode to gui mode in VirtualBox. But I don't know how to do it. I really appreciate if someone help me on this.

I usually run linux virtual machines in headless mode and connect to it through ssh. I have setup tigervnc-server on linux virtual machine, so that i can connect through vncviewer whenever i want to work on gui.

But recently, one of my friend said, I can also start virtual machine in headless mode in VirtualBox window by holding <SHIFT> key and press Start. Sure it did, it started in headless mode. But, now I don't know how to bring back window again.

Thanks you.

Some Trouble Installing Elementary OS

Hi everyone.
Earlier I posted a reply on a thread about a problem with partitions while installing Elementary OS Freya as dual-boot, and yancek answered giving me a link with a tutorial (thank you!).

However, after I continue with the installation it stopped with an error saying that grub wasn't installed, something like that. But when I start my computer (with USB boot priority), pops a window with the option to 'Try Elementary..." and "Install Elementary..." and if I press Esc a grub console appears. Doesn't that mean grub is installed? What should I do to fix this?

Best regards,
a Linux amateur

Installing 17.1 Mate With Windows 8.1

Hello, I hope someone can assist. I have installed 17 on 2 laptops and 17.1 on another all with windows 8 upgraded to 8.1 Now I have a new PC with 8.1 and cannot get 17.1 to install. I have never had this happen, did I not do something? There is 1 300mb(fat32, efi) partition, ntfa, free space(which is where I am trying to install Linux), 1 small and 1 large "free space". Then the define for boot loader installation, which I do not remember needing to do before. Can someone please help. The PC is an Acer Aspire, amd10, 3.7ghz, quad core, radeon hd 8670 graphics , 1 terabyte hdd, 4gb ram, windows 8.1

Configuring A Dual Boot Arch And Fedora Installation

I have setup a dual boot system with Fedora 21 and Arch Linux. The problem is that Fedora doesn't see my encrypted Arch installation. The installations are on separate partitions and do not share anything apart from hard disk space. I have run the following commands as root in Fedora:

Code:
grub2-install /dev/sda

Code:
os-prober

Code:
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

When I rebooted, Fedora was the only OS entry showing in the GRUB menu.

There was a suggestion from one of the members of the Arch forums that I should write the entry myself into /etc/grub.d/40_custom and then re-build the grub configuration or take the Arch entry from Arch's /boot/grub/grub.cfg and just paste it into the 40_custom in Fedora and rebuild.

How do I boot from a live Arch USB stick into the installed Arch and do as stated above? How would it work? Thanks in advance for your replies.
