I am new to LINUX and am trying to install Fedora 20 on an ACER Aspire Z5600, the specs are as follows : Pentium Dual Core 64-bit 2.7 GHz processor, 3 GB RAM and well over 100 GB of free HDD space.
When it starts I get the message: not enough memory to load image.
Not sure what the problem is.
hi,
I am using fedora core 20. To access desktop from remote I followed the instructions mentioned in the website.
http://hex.ro/wp/blog/fedora-20-remo...rom-windows-7/
1. Settings -> System -> Sharing – enable Sharing then for Screen Sharing enable it and then enable all checkboxes
2. Added port in firewall
#firewall-cmd --add-service=vnc-server
3. Set the command
# gsettings set org.gnome.Vino require-encryption false
From other machine, using Tight vncviewer when I entered the IP address of this machine, I get full black screen. Please help me in this regards.
Thanks in advance.
uv.
Have Toshiba Tecra 64-bit 500gb disk 4gb ram running Windows 7 professional it has Intel core i5 processor.
I downloaded iso file of DVD LinuxMint Rebecca Cinnamon to DVD.
When I restart the system with the DVD inserted it immediately opens in Windows 7.
I could not follow the instructions to "disable secure boot and (u)efi".
Have partitioned the disk to allocate 100 gb to Linux in E:
First of all I really would like to run Live DVD and then later on to install it permanently it the E: partition.
Can I just simply copy the iso file into disk E:
Help from anyone is greatly appreciated.
Best regards to all of you.
Again my friends I am having trouble,
Have Toshiba Tecra 64-bit 500gb disk 4gb ram running Windows 7 professional it has Intel core i5 processor.
I burned iso file of DVD LinuxMint Rebecca Cinnamon to DVD.
When I restart the system with the DVD inserted it immediately opens in Windows 7.
Then I pressed F1 to change the boot order to USB ODD.
Then I re-started several times to no avail.
When I press F1 to select the boot device it only gives me the Windows 7 option.
I know the disk is good because I checked the files it should contain and they are there.
Help from anyone is greatly appreciated.
Best regards to all of you.
Please Help,

I'm trying to install Linux computer brand Positive

Intel Celeron 420 1.6 GHz

I used the KillDisk for formatting, and overwrite zeros, and apparently it was all OK.
When trying to install Elementary OS (DVD) or Ubuntu (another DVD), appears the keyboard and the doll:

acpi = off noapic nolapic nodma PNPBIOS nomodeset irqpoll xdriver = vesa resolution = 1024x768 and nothing, changed nothing
In Mageia, when I click install linux kernel appears the load popup and always goes to 100%, but then just goes black screen passes 10, 20 minutes and not change anything
Selecting Mageia hardware detection option appears the information below:

Hi,
I have a Fedora 21 system, but I would like to update it using repos from Fedora Core 4.
I have found this article - How to Use YUM in Fedora Core 4 - that allows changes to be made to the yum settings, so that you can run yum on Fedora 4.
Is it possible to setup Fedora 21 to point at this repository over the normal one?
I realise that this is not good practice, but I would like to test out a theory to see if this will work.
