ACPI Error At The End Of Boot; How To Delete That Error?

Hello,
know anybody how to delete that error at the end of dmesg?
If was not here before I installed the fglrx instead of the radeon driver.

How To Recover From A Botched Graphics Card Driver Install

OK,

Lastnight I decided to finally attempt to install the dedicated ATI/AMD Catylist drivers. After all I was successfull with the HP drivers, right...

No matter which grub selection I make, getting in is broken, except of course for the Windows XP Pro x64 entry, that works just fine. I'm here with you today, because of the Fedora 21 Live DVD, (slooooww).

Here is the drivers log file:

I just rebooted without attempting to configure the card, as per the ATI/AMD warning stating that it's important to do so, because my thinking was derailed due to seeing errors, and the install program said I needed to reboot. Afterall, I just couln't believe that with a "Failed to compile kernel module" error, it would actually keep the changes I'd made, that surely Linux had a failsafe in place for such circumstances. In other words, I'm also a newbie, and just don't know how many hoops of fire one has to jump through to be at peace with linux.

Can anyone please help be get back into my install, I've already set up so many things, there's just got to be a way, right?

Thanks in Advance!

Problem Installing Radeon Driver Packages With Second Debian Install

I have a debian OS on a partition on my hard disk (sda1).
There was no sound because the ati rs880/radeon 4200 sound card needed drivers which were only in the debian 'non-free' version'.
So I added the non-free version to my install and also had to make a change to the GRUB bootloader file.
After that, I got sound.

Now I've installed a new debian distro to my second partition - sda2.
This time I ensured I installed the debian non-free version.
But I'm having trouble installing the drivers for the sound card.

I go into Synaptic package manager to install the relevant drivers and it gives me an error message:
Code:
Configuring libfglrx - install Fglrx driver despite unsupported graphics card?

I'm not sure what that means because I want the drivers for my sound card - not graphics.
When I press the 'Help' button, it says:
Code:
This system has a graphics card which is no longer handled by the Fglrx driver...
The above card requires either the non-free legacy Fgrlx driver
(package fgrlx-legacy-driver) or the free Radeon driver (package xserver-xorg-video-radeon).

This is fine because I can just install the 'free Radeon driver'.

But the Help message then says:
Code:
Before the Radeon driver can be used you must remove Fglrx configuration from xorg.conf
(and xorg.conf.d/)
Note that switching to the free Radeon driver requires the fglrx-driver package to be purged (not just removed).

So now I don't know what to do. Has anyone had this error message?
I know I can enable sound and have no problems with the graphics card because that's what happened with my original install on sda1.

But with the install on sda2, I don't know how to approach this problem.
Can anyone help please?

Install Fglrx Driver Instead The Open Source Radeon In Debian 7?

Hello, my video card "Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Cedar PRO [Radeon HD 5450/6350]"
create something which can be seen with dmesg "drm: registered panic notifier".
Should I install the fglrx driver instead of keeping the open source radeon as per current install?
I have antix which is a debian wheezy based system https://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary# ... 2Wheezy.22
Thanks for any advice before I do it.

Driver "fglrx" For "ATI Cedar Pro HD 5450/6350" Slow; How To Make It Quicker?

I newly installed the fglrx driver instead the radeon opensource; the video is better but the movement of windows is very slow. Is there a possibility to accelerate that system?
the Xorg.conf has no specific setup.
Any advice is welcome.

W: Operation was interrupted before it could finish

Finally the error in red immediately above pops up.
I searched the net and found a site with an article dated back in 2010 that said to fix the error before rebooting or I'd probably not be able to boot to Linux.
Which I'm doing right now, I've not yet rebooted.

How should I recover from such an error before I reboot.

The site had several solutions depending upon other variables, one of which was to delete and/or re-run something. But none of the solutions seemed to fit my case.

I'm running the Zorin OS 9 Theme on top of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, an AMD PhenomII 64bit 4 core processor on an ASUS MB. The video card is also an AMD/ATI, hence the need for the fglrx drivers listed above.

I'm not sure if the overwriting of the ATI/AMD driver config files shown above are responsible for the error or not. I did nothing that I was aware of that might have caused it, except close another instance of terminal that was runnning, and a libre office writer window.

Any ideas on how to solve this before I reboot would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Screen Flickering

I have a laptop with an integrated GMA3600 GPU. Every "modern" distro was unusable because the screen would flicker and black out like crazy, so I installed one of the few that didn't present this behaviour -- Crunchbang 11, based on Wheezy.

I'm trying to address this issue; I'll compare a few outputs from 1) my current setup (Crunchbang) and 2) one of the non-working alternatives (Lubuntu 14.10 on a live USB):

The last output hints that some problem is indeed detected but I don't know what to do from here.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the Lubuntu boot menu screen (this one) presents no flickering issues.

Mint 17 Cinnamon Failed, Stuck In Fallback (likely Caused By Graphics Driver Install)

Hi LQ,
I am currently experiencing an issue on a fresh install of Mint 17.1 Cinnamon in which I am permanently stuck in fallback mode (that is, unless I hard shutdown or reboot) on an aging laptop with AMD Radeon HD 4200 graphics (considered legacy). I believe this issue was caused by a failed install of AMD's latest linux graphics drivers, in which I literally opened the .run file and attempted to install. The install failed (some error), of course, but when I rebooted, I was kicked into fallback. After some googling, I autoremoved fglrx then installed fglrx, as I read would reinstall fglrx, the proprietary drivers for AMD cards and rebooted. Still stuck in fallback. I removed and installed Xorg and rebooted. Still stuck in fallback. I downloaded the AMD legacy drivers from AMD's site (my card's series included with this set). Had to change the permissions to run this .run file but eventually ran it from terminal, but this install also failed (claimed I was missing tool(s), despite not indicating precisely what I was missing). I'm still rummaging around for fixes, but maybe asking can help. I can provide some more info below, but let me know what else you need (and how to get it) if you wish to help. I really want linux to work out for me instead of shelling out $$ for Windows, but so far this has been a rocky start. Thanks

Still no luck, let me know what you think.

Double TtyACM Node Device From Sony Ericsson C510

Hi.

I'm using smstools3 and Sony Ericsson Phones to send SMS. My system did work well with 4 phones, now I want to connect 20.
The issue is that each phone generates two ttyACMXX devices using cdc_acm driver, and for limitations the driver supports up to 32 ACM devices

Code:
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: cdc_acm 2-2:1.1: ttyACM31: USB ACM device
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: cdc_acm 2-2:1.3: ttyACM32: USB ACM device
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: usbco registered new driver cdc_acm
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.c: v0.25:USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: usbco registered new driver cdc_ether
Aug 31 09:51:19 smsgw kernel: usb 2-2: unsupported MDLM descriptors
Aug 31 09:52:01 smsgw kernel: cdc_acm 3-1:1.0: no more free acm devices

From the ttyACM devices created by the driver I only use the first one..

So I was wondering if it is possible to remove a ttyACM from /sys/class/tty/ttyACM1

I tried unlink /dev/ttyACM1, but it persist as a device on /sys/class/tty/

The devices are removed if I disconnect the phone, So I think would be possible also that the driver only create one ttyACM device..

Please guide me...

Thanks in advance.

Fglrx AMD Driver Troubleshooting On Ubuntu-gnome 15.04

I install fgrlx driver on vivid os the driver look like is istalled correct on system and built the necessary kernel modules because the dpkg log not report any errors, i configured the driver by simple commands like:

sudo aticonfig --initial

sudo aticonfig --screen-layout=on

i reboot the machine , but i face an strange issue the boot splash screen is hangup,i cant enter my lvm password to boot the system, i was have a chance to boot into rescue mode when boot to rescue mode the display not read by the system i try to export display by

export DISPLAY=:0

I try to configure /etc/X11/xorg.conf there is not good resaults the boot splash still hang up

I edited the grub , i uncomment "quiet splash" modified by "nomodeset"

i can boot without boot splash but im faced other issue i cant switch to virtual tty

i dont know is this a bug in the driver or in the kernel

GNU RAID 1 "Data Volume Failed To Mount"

I'm using a Western Digital My Book Live DUO network drive with 2x2Tb HD's in RAID 1 configuration. The devices uses Linux GNU to manage the RAID array.
At some point after a reboot the UI returns this error:

"Data volume failed to mount Contact tech support"

I have very little linux knowledge, and trying to get the RAID error fixed so I can access and backup my data on another drive.

Here's the info I have managed to pull so far from the drive via SSH:

From what I have managed to put together by reading left and right the RAID 1 is md0 made from sda and sdb (Hard drives)
And the problem seems to be something on the superblock being corrupted. but if I try to use fsck command to attempt to fix it it...

Code:
LTFileServer:~# fsck /dev/md0
fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
e2fsck 1.41.12 (17-May-2010)
/dev/md0 is mounted.

WARNING!!! The filesystem is mounted. If you continue you ***WILL***
cause ***SEVERE*** filesystem damage.

Do you really want to continue (y/n)? no

check aborted.
LTFileServer:~#

All help and advise is really welcome.
