Boot Messages Should Remain Hidden At Bootup Even After Pressing Any Keystrokes

hello,
I have a CentOS system and I want to prevent the boot messages from appearing during bootup. I have added the quiet option in grub.conf file which hides the boot messages, but after pressing the esc key or the arrows it shows up again.

Is it possible to hide it permanently?

Or not show the boot logs when the basic(esc or arrow) keys are pressed but assign a different set of key combos which when pressed, then only the boot messages should be visible.

Thankyou

Kali Linux Usb Install On UEIF With Win 8.1

Ok so I'm trying to install Kali on my computer with the USB install and I have read that anthing after version 1.0.8 should be UEIF compatible. I used Rufus to create the bootable usb with Kali's ISO. When i boot from the usb i get the GRUB loader but no matter if i chose the live or the install it freezes/crashes and get errors like:

no caching mode page found

since the usb is not persistent how can i view or capture the error messages to help me figure out what the problem is?

Also should i just try burning it to disk to see if i get different results? Haven't done it yet because i don't have any DVD's laying around.

/var/log/messages Growing Tremendously

Hi, I can see the below mentioned logs writing every second into /var/log/messages.

"setroubleshoot: SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/perl from ioctl access on the file /usr/share/perl5/Exporter.pm. For complete SELinux messages. run sealert -l e6a1fd7e-a8c0-44bc-91db-b550f85f31c2"

Can anyone help me to find the root cause of this and how to fix it also?

Thanks in advance,

George

Wich Linux Should I Choose?

I'm not actually that newbie,I already experienced Kali linux, Ubuntu and Slackware, but the last one was to much hands on to me. I don't want something simple like Ubunt, but nothing that slack, like slackware. My interests are programing, using matlab, learn the basic of script and general linux programing, run windows aplications, develop for linux windows and android. I really get into something challenger, but also smart, Wich could recognize my cards and install drivers. Something advanced wich i would personalize, and something wich would make me learn, but please, no slackware! Maybe someday, but not this time.
Another thing. KDE or GNOME environment

Please, be reliable and honest as such is possible and I'll have no words to thanks. I really want to get into linux in first category. If I would to use a slogan to my life I'd say: Quote:
"Not the hard or easy way, not the curved path or the straight line, the smarter choice!
Why to go in the full way when I can get a shortcut? The answer: Will I learn with it, learn enogh to take a shortcut in the future? What is gain and when the questions will stop? Will they stop if i choose the shortcut?
If a have to make something, let's do it in the easy way, no need to reinvent anytihng.
The only thing that I don't want is to be alone. This doesn't mean to be without anyone to talk or help, however it also makes part, besides what really minds is to have someone else with information; the only thing that can go faster than light, the only thing that can make the world make sense; to share with you and to share for us. Just like univeverse couldn't make sense with only two electrons, it also could'nt make sense without people and coletive learning, for us, by us, through us... "
That was to much, but now you must now what I want.

Bad: How To Disable Gconfd In Firefox

I use Firefox 16 for my automation and it uses gconfd internally.
Is there a way to disable firefox from using gconfd. It writes a lot of data into saved_state which is leading to crashing total usage of CPU.

I have found –disable-gconf
but not sure how to compile firefox with that command

Is there a way to disable log messages from gconf?

Install 3 Versions Of Linux On Same Hard Disk

Hi,

I am new to the installation of Linux, and wish to install 3 different distro's on the same hard disk.

I have installed Centos 7 successfully as follows :

The /boot is /dev/sda2

/dev/sda1 is listed as unknown so i assume it is the Master Boot Record with Grub installed. I do obtain the option to boot to the various kernels after updating the OS.

/dev/sda3 is a Linux LVM with the various partitions i required.

When i installed the CentOS 7 the installer stated an error about the bootable partition - which was effectively /boot, so i moved this to /dev/sda2.

What i am not sure about is that if i want to install 2 other Linux OS's will i run out of /dev/sdaX assignments ?.

I read somewhere that there are 4 maximum that can be used a /boot (SDA1, SDA2, SDA3, SDA4), so does this mean i can only install one other OS ?.

Any guidance gratefully received. Thanks.

Regards,

Richard.
