Help With Apache2 Configuration.

Hello everyone,

I need a little bit of help. I am attempting to install a couple of web based applications, (loganalyzer and rancid). I am running Debian Wheezy and I am creating two separate directories (/var/www/loganalyzer and /var/www/rancid). My overall goal is to be able to connect to these different applications on the same server by typing in the following urls (http://IP_address/loganalyzer and http://IP_address/rancid) respectively.

I am beating my head against the wall configuring the Apache web service. I cannot get these applications to pull up. All I get is a blank screen with both instances.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to help me get this task completed? I truly appreciate the help and if there is any other information you need from me please let me know.

Stopping Application From Being Upgraded

Good day. I know the commands Code:
sudo apt-mark hold package_name

is used to prevent applications from being upgraded. But what do you use for applications that were manually installed and not from the repository?

Thanks!

VPN Mullvad Client Won't Install Proper -dependency Problems(?)-

Hello all

I'm having trouble with installing the Mullvad VPN client on my computer. The configuration files work fine and there is a connection but the client just won't work (there is a icon in the applications but when clicking on it, password is asked and then nothing happens). Using Debian Wheezy 7.
I'm in contact with Mullvad but we haven't made any progress yet, and it's weekend now.

I tried a couple of thing but this is where i'm now:

- Fresh installed system.

→ Going to Downloads map in terminal
→ login as root
→ trying to install Mullvad by dpkg -i mullvad_48-1_all.deb
→ seeing error installing Mullvad
→ apt-get install -f
→ installing “mullvad depends on packages”
apt-get install pytho
apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8
apt-get install python-appindicator
→ trying to install Mullvad by dpkg -i mullvad_48-1_all.deb
→ seeing problem(?)
“ dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of mullvad:
mullvad depends on python:any (>= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2).

dpkg: error processing mullvad (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured “ (what is this?)
→ trying to install python_2.7.3-4+deb7u1_all.deb by dpkg -i python_2.7.3-4+deb7u1_all.deb
→ then: apt-get install -f
→ trying to install Mullvad: dpkg -i mullvad_48-1_all.deb
→ still not working

I found this link about "Package has a Depends on python:any (>= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2)" https://qa.debian.org/debcheck.php?dist ... thon-gdata
It says : Package has a Depends on python:any (>= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2) which cannot be satisfied on amd64.
What does this mean for me?

I checked command # python -V The output is:

do followwing commands:
# apt-get update && apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi
# modprobe -r iwl4965
# modprobe iwl4965
# aptitude update
# aptitude install plasma-widget-networkmanagement

I tried to do the same in "Jessie"

[Kali] Panel Shitfts Gradually And Can't See Shortcuts

Hello, I'm having a problem on Kali Linux. I've added some shotcuts to the top panel but it shifts to the left from time to time until I cannot see anything I cant even click on Applications menu because it clicks the shortcut behind it.

Example:

It fixes when I log out and log in again. I'm looking for a permanent solution, any help?

Thanks.

Mounting Separate Partitions That Are Not "normal"

I want my Plex Media Server, Web Server, and Honeypot running on separate partitions. I've formatted them how I want:

SDA7 is my MediaCentre, formatted in XFS, I'd like this mounted as a separate partition and I'd like this to be the location of the Plex Media Server.

SDA8 is my WebServer, formatted in ext4. I'd also like this mounted as a separate partition and be the location of my Web Server (Probs use LAMP and an FTP Download Client).

SDA9 is my Honeypot server, formatted in XFS. Again, I'd like this to be mounted on a separate partition and will be where my Honeypot Server lives.

I'd also like all three servers to be running on VM's to help isolate them.

How do I go about accomplishing this? I'm a Windows native. In Windows I'd have partitioned everything, Created the virtual machines, moved them to their respective partitions, then installed all of the applications.

First things first, how/what do I mount these drives as? Can I just mount them as /mnt/mediaserver and /mnt/webserver etc? Will these mount points then be recognised?

Goal: Set Up A Private Discussion Group Using Internet/gmail To Contact Family Member

I'm a nubie, please excuse my ignorance, (not my stupidity) and my omissions at researching possible resources for I'm confused by the descriptions of the multiple applications.

Using ubuntu 14.04 dist with apache2 installation; not sure how to go about creating a discussion group that would (more or less) be unavailable to the casual hacker: e.g. security but not extreme.
Trying to try and sell the idea to media/computer savy young adults.
Simple idea is to have issues, and discussion threads to initiate/respond to various different issues. Possibly links to related issues/responses.
I've been looking at mutt write-up trying to figure out if it will help me achieve my goal. (Goal: Set up a private discussion group using internet/gmail to contact family members).

What else?

Can we use iphone dictation/text conversion in responding to issues. e.g message mailed to email that appears as a response to a discussion issue.

Using lenovo desktop as server/main PC.
Any report of existing similar system(s) in part or whole is sincerely appreciated.
Thanks
