hi,
i have a 'Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100' netcard, formly at start up the system wrote iwlwifi-5000-1, iwlwifi-5000-2, iwlwifi-5000-3, iwlwifi-5000-4, iwlwifi-5000-5 is missing. I downloaded them and put them in /lib/firmware, no the error message disappeared and i'm connected to my router, but i only have internet with ethernet, although signal strenght is 97%. What can be wrong? How can I solve this?
thank you!
i have an hp pavilion dv7 laptop and i installed openmandrivalx 14.1 x64 on it and cannot configure the wireless intel centrino wireless n-2230 adapter. Have downloaded the iwlwifi drivers but cannot install because the system cannot resolve the $MIRRORLIST problem.
This occurs on all mandriva based linux systems i hahe tried mageia with the same result. Mageia cannot even recognise the centrino adapter.
Ubuntu based linux systems install on the fly.
What good is an operating system in the modern era that you cannot connect to the internet seamlessly?
Hello, My issue is very common but, not able to resolve it.
Issue I am facing with my Linux (RHEL-5 32-bit) machine, where I am not able to connect to internet.
DWR-113 - D-Link Router is configured for 3G dongle (Vodafone India) - This setup is done via WiFi and not using the provided LAN cable from Win7 machine.
Internet is working absolutely fine in case of Wireless but, at same time when LAN cable is used internet is not working. [Able to ping to Router IP i.e. 192.168.0.1)
Similarly, from Linux box, ping to Router IP is working [LAN plugged] but, Internet not working. IP of linux machine: 192.168.0.60
Also, able to get the console connection of Linux from Windows box..[Windows connected to Router via WiFi and Linux connected to Router via LAN cable]
Please suggest how to get rid of this problem so that Internet will work on Linux via LAN cable.
Many Thanks,
Hello everyone,
My company have about 4000 people will use irc(ratbox), when the peak comes, some users could not connect to irc server.I have modified the parameter default_max_clients of local.conf to 5000,but it did not work.who knows how to set the maximum users of irc server.which file should I modify. Thanks
I have several computers connected to a D-Link DIR605L router, two with ethernet cables and two through wifi. The Windows XP computer can see itself and nobody else. The Ubuntu (trusty) desktop and Ubuntu (lucid) netbook computers see nobody (unable to retrieve file list from server) and the Windows Vista computer only sees itself. Clearly, I have failed to configure something or a set of somethings.
Do I have to have one of the computers always on, acting as some kind of file server or can the router do this job? This is a new router. My old one (whose power supply went phut) connected everybody without arguing about it and we could share files around, even with a mix of OSs.
Since this is a local network only, I have no firewalls enabled, as far as I know ...
All of the network set-up posts I've found rabbit on about how to get your internet connection working through your router, which is not an option for me. I have dial-up working on the XP computer and a mobile wireless USB dongle for internet access on the trusty desktop.
I've installed samba and a few other packages, but so far, none of them have solved my problem. Can someone please tell me where to start and which tutorials to read? If I have to set up a computer as a file server, I guess it will have to be the XP thing, as it's the only one that is always running, but I'd like to avoid that, if possible, as I speak XP worse than I speak Ubuntu.
BTW, D-Link are no help at all, two hours on the 'phone and they were still trying to get me to connect to an ADSL service I don't have ...
I just installed on my Sony Vaio "Jessie" and my wifi doesn't work.
When I was using "wheezy" after installation I did the following:
add line to Sources.list:
deb http://http/debian.net/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free
do followwing commands:
# apt-get update && apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi
# modprobe -r iwl4965
# modprobe iwl4965
# aptitude update
# aptitude install plasma-widget-networkmanagement
I tried to do the same in "Jessie"
add line to Sources.list:
deb http://http/debian.net/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
but it didn't work. Any ideas?
Have had ongoing problems with wifi since I built my PC. It was like it is now when I first built it, I tried bits I found online to try and fix it and evntually it just started working out of the blue, when I hadn't changed anything. A few weeks ago it just reverted to how it was before
Very rarely it works normally, except it will only see my network (always about 60-70% strength) and not the other 3 in range
Sometimes it will say it is connected but not be able to download anything, and wont even load up the router homepage
Sometimes it connect and run for a few minutes before dropping and not being able to reconnect
Most often it will see my network and all others in range but wont connect
Sometimes it wont see my network at all, but will see others in range
Sometime network manager wont even show wireless up as an option just "nwtwork cable unplugged"
My 2 HDDs are on Mint 17.1, one is 64bit one 32bit. Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P. I have 3 wifi adapters, one belkin, one realtek, and one "Think Penguin" one I bought especially from USA thinking it would be an easy fix. All have same problem, but all work on my other older PC properly with about 50-60% signal strength (same OS 32 bit)
I have no idea where to start
Hello everybody,
I am seeking help regarding sharing internet connection. I would be greatful.
I have;
A Laptop : Samsung RV509, i3, 300GB HDD, 3GB Ram, Dual boot Windows7 & LM 17 cinnamon 32bit. WiFi & Bluetooth available.
A Desktop PC : Celeron CPU 2.4GHZ, 40 GB HDD, 1GB RAM, LiveUSB-LM 17 cinnamon 32bit, No WiFi hardware available, No Bluetooth hardware available.
A mobile phone : Nokia Asha 500, WiFi & Bluetooth available.
An old USB data cable: with which the mobile phone can be connected to the computers. I have successfully connected and transfered data back & forth, and also shared/connected Mobile-Broadband-internet to both Laptop and Desktop.
What I have been doing now is; I have an internet connection to my Laptop with an external modem and Ethernet. Its working fine. I have an unlimited plan and so I want to share this internet connection on the mobile phone too; instead of incuring extra cost by connecting to the internet directly through the phone. I am successful at that. I can share this internet connection on my phone through WiFi.
Now, what I want to do is; without buying any extra hardware, to share this same internet connection on my Desktop PC, too.
What I tried is; I searched the web, but didn't find any solution. Now I am here. Please kindly help me.
Thank you & Regards
Anil
I am using Debian 7 KVM in a cloud and I find the keyboard buffer in a terminal window is about 35 characters in length thus when I run my keyboard emulator, I have to pause after 35 keys in order not to overflow the buffer.
I want to be able to login and dump the instructions to the KVM server then go to the next one. e.g If I wanted a mass roll out of Yacy search engines or other applications.
I know no Human can type that fast. But my Program can on the PS2 interface.
The USB keyboard port maxes out a 700 WPM
over 5000 Word Per Minute

I recently decided to upgrade from Debian Squeeze to Wheezy. Update seemed to go fine with the exception of the following warning concerning my Broadcom bmc5704 gigabit ethernet cards
Quote:
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso5.bin for module tg3
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso.bin for module tg3
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3.bin for module tg3
No problem I will simply install the missing .bin files after the upgrade. Get the .bin files from the Debian repository and install them using the command "dpkg -i file_name.deb" then ran "apt-get install -f" for good measure. Still nothing, I have downloaded the following files and running that same command for each hoping that this would solve my compatibility issue with no such luck.
Quote:
firmware-bnx2_0.36+wheezy.1_all.deb
firmware-bnx2x_0.36+wheezy.1_all.deb
firmware-linux-nonfree_0.36+wheezy.1_all.deb
firmware-linux-nonfree_0.36+wheezy.1~bpo60+1_all.deb
When I attempt to go into System Preferences > Network I get the message "The system network services are not compatible with this version."
I showed the hardware using the lshw command and here is the entry concerning the ethernet interface

Server is an older HP ProLiant and I am attempting to put Wheezy on it from a direct upgrade from squeeze.
At this point I am stumped. Not sure exactly what to do but it seems like a fairly simple fix. If anyone has any suggestions I would sure appreciate the help. Let me know if you need anything.
