I am appearing for RHCSA exam next week. I want to ask a simple question. CAN I DELETE FIREWALL RULE in RHCSA exam.

Hi, all. I was new user to linux two weeks ago, but now i try to figure out ACL and etc. Before 7.03.2015 i had no prior experience with linux. I want to attend at next RHCSA exam (approx. 20th of april). I have official training books from Red Hat (RH124) and "RHCSA training live sessions" video set by Pearson, inc. Can i pass RHCSA exam? I don't plan to attend in any training, only self-study. What do you think? Or do you offer any special method to prepare for exam faster except paid trainings? Would be better if answers are by exam-takers or who passed.
PS: I have 3 years of experience in programming, especially C, C# and some other PLs.
Thank you beforehand!
Hi,
I just came to know that LPIC_1 102 exam has been altered since last April and it seems that the modifications are mostly on the networking section.
Could anyone introduce resources/books/ebooks that cover the new modifications?
Hi guys,
finished my linux+ and want to move on to some red hat training...
so i found on the red hat site:
http://www.redhat.com/en/services/al...ions-and-exams
that:
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Exam (EX200).
looks like the entry level certification, and an obvious place to start...
i want to self study and have been googling but the information im finding is at least 4 to 6 years old...
has anybody self studied this? i would think so as red hat training is pretty pricey...
can anybody recommend a good study guide or video set or anything that is up to date and may help pass the exam
thanks
First thank you for all the input, it's been helpful. Now, I've been having issues with using external drives (usb\cd/dvd)but when I used an old 3.5 usb device the pc will see it. Is there a way to get it to see a flash drive or cd drive. thank you for being understanding and patient with me. I'm new to using(thinking out side of windows) Linux.
In Windows, when a folder is right clicked, I can see the number of files and folders in that folder and the detailed size of the total of files and folders down to the byte. In Linux Mint when I do the same thing in the default file manager, it gives me a total nunber of "Items" and a size rounded to xx.x GB. Is there a file manager that will give me the same information as Windows does, or another way to get that information?
I am preparing to take my EX200 exam for red hat Linux ver 6.X. My questions a number one, what are the main differences between version 6.X and 7.X ? and number two, what are some of the tricks I should look for?
- I have samba server and ldap server both on different machine. I want to authenticate all the ldap user on samba share to giving access permission for user's on share. I have refer too many document for that but I am unable to access share with ldap user's username and password. I have referred below link
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_&_LDAP
http://www.unixmen.com/setup-samba-d...-ubuntu-13-04/
How to troubleshoot for user authentication on samba share?
hi guys im a little confused
read privilege on a directory means i can list the contents
write means i can save, edit and delete files in that directory
but then it says execute is like a light switch,if its off (no execute) you will not be able to view items in the directory
so do you have to have rwx on a directory to be able to use it fully?
if you have rw- as the owner will you not be able to view or change
into subdirectories within that directory?
Hi all,
In my work, I'd like to spawn separate kernel threads (tasks) to execute syscall asynchronously. Specifically, a user thread issues a syscall, goes into kernel, save the syscall number and arguments somewhere in the kernel address space, but does not execute the syscall. A kernel thread which is different from the user thread, will fetch the syscall number and arguments to execute the syscall on behalf of the user thread.
But for file operations such as read, the kernel thread is not aware of the open files of the user threads. For example, if the user thread opens a file and get a file descriptor, then it issue a read() syscall. The kernel thread cannot execute the read() on behalf of the user thread by just using the file descriptor. Thus I need some way to allow the kernel thread share the open files information with the user thread, such that the kernel thread will have the context of the open file to execute read(). I tried to pass the files_struct of the user thread's task_struct to the kernel thread, but it didn't help, read() returns a EFAULT error.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to make a kernel thread share the open files with a user thread? Or more straightforward how to execute the read() syscall in the example above in kernel thread? Thank you very much!
