Debugging In Ns2

I am trying to develop a new routing protocol in ns2. Although i have given a command in tcl file that should be called from command function present in .cc file. But it is not doing so.
Could we debug this and find the point where is the problem. If yes then how ?

I have heard that there are debuggers in ns2 . But this is for tcl or c++ ....
Could any one please help me ... How can i proceed further.

Thanks for ur help

Difference Between These Function Calls In A Routing Protocol In Ns2

Could you please tell me the difference between agent->function name() vs this->function name ().
Actually i am taking about LAR.cc file (LAR routing protocol) but these function calls can be part of any routing protocol.

As you can see below , they are calling the same function with this and agent in LAR.cc . What is the difference between when we are calling a function with "agent" or calling with "this"

>
> void LARRouteRequestTimer::expire(Event *e)
> {
> ......
> .....
> agent->sendRouteRequest(this->dest, forwardMethod, this->routeInfo, false); //ringZero=false
> .....
> ...
> }
>
>
> void LARAgent::routeRequest(Packet *p)
> {
> .....
> ....
> ...
> this->sendRouteRequest(dest, larhdr->forwardCode(), &(destPtr->second), useRingZeroSearch);
> .....
> .....
> }

I have to do some changes in this file . kindly give some information on this issue .

Exporting Log Data To A File That Matches Stdout

hey guys,

Let's say I want to find out which log files have related ntp information in them. I use cat and grep to search through the files in /var/log and then export that to a file. this is the command...

# cat /var/log/* | grep ntp > /home/log.txt

The file created from this command will not include the directories the log entries are apart of. Why not? For example, if you do this same command without exporting to the /home/log.txt file it will show you in stdout which directory each log entry is in. Hope I'm making sense here. My question is, is there a clever way to export to a file in a way so that the file created is structured exactly like the stdout of the command below?

# cat /var/log/* | grep ntp

Segmentation Fault (core Dumped ) Error In Ns2.34

I did some changes in the LAR protocol and suppose the new protocol is named as ABC .
When i am doing make clean and then make.
object file "ABC.o" was successfully created.
Then i tried to run tcl file , nothing has been written in the trace file and it gave me the following error

21052015$ ns234 new.tcl scen1 setting other default settings...
removing unecessary packet headers...
num_nodes is set 100
INITIALIZE THE LIST xListHead
loading mobility file
loading traffic file
Starting Simulation...
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I tried a lot but unable to find out where is the error. I am unable to find out the point of error . Is it in .cc file or in .tcl file.
Could someone please help me.
My work is stucked and i searched a lot but didn't get anything.

please please .............. help me

Cp $var1 Var2 Doesn't Work

I'm running a bash script on a Raspberry Pi to control LED pixels. I'm stuck on a basic copy command.

I have a variable called nexttemp which contains the string B_254_TieDyeKaleidoscope.fseq

That file, in the same directory, is a large binary file that I'm trying to copy to a file called MasterFseq.fseq

If I do a

cp nexttemp MasterFseq.fseq

then MasterFseq.fseq contains the B_254_TieDyeKaleidoscope.fseq file name.

I want instead to have copied the binary file to MasterFseq.fseq.

It's my understanding that a $nexttemp will point to the binary file and not the name of it but when I do a

cp $nexttemp MasterFseq.fseq

the $nexttemp is thrown away and I'm told there is no destination file name, eg.

root@FPP:/home/pi/media/sequences# echo cp $nexttemp MasterFseq.fseq
+ echo cp MasterFseq.fseq
cp MasterFseq.fseq

How do I get the binaray file, which is named in nexttemp, copied to MasterFseq.fseq?

Why Should I Always Use Chmod When Not As A Root User

System Info:

I have normal user in CentOS 7 whose name is "mostafa" (the name of the account).

I naturally have another user called root with all privileges. User "mostafa" is put into sudoers file, too.

The OS is installed in VmWare, so the system is all mine.

Problem:

Now I create a file with touch file.sh and put a command in it, but when I want to run it with Code:
sudo ./file.sh

, an error is shown that the command Code:
./file.sh

does not exist. But if I Code:
 sudo chmod 777 ./file.sh

then it gets run. My question is that, why should I use Code:
chmod 777

when I myself have created the file, and I am in sudoers.

Can anyone explain me why shuold I still use Code:
sudo chmod 777

when the creator of the file is me.

What Do I Do With This Huge Data On My Command Line Interface

Hi,

I have been trying to get information on how to process the output of a tcl file (aodv and leach protocol using mannasim) which I got on my command line Iinterface. Actually, I don't even know the keywords to search as I am new to this and other minor attempts haven't yielded positive results., I know there is usually a trace file but I can't see any. All I see is on my command line.

I also observe that it took the space on the entire screen and I can't copy the output from the start ( I could only copy from node 19 out of 30 nodes) because of the huge number of output lines.

The last thing I havent been able to figure ou is whether temperature is equivalent to energy Iin mannasim as mannasim has only temperature and carbon dioxide?

Thanks
