XServer Multiple Screens

Hi,
I am using 2 screens (my current laptop screen and extended to my TV using HDMI), I am only using one x-server (ctl-alt-F7) on ZorinOS 9.1

on the terminal, DISPLAY using: env|grep DISPLAY variable always shows :0.0 for both screens

I thought it would show :0.0 for my laptop display and :0.1 for my TV, its showed :0.0 on TV as well, could some one tell me why.....

Hunting Down Who A Monitor (or Sometimes Two) Goes Blank

I am running Slackware 14 with three screens, using KDE.

The issue I have is that all three display ports seem properly configured, and have worked for a couple of years, and all of the sudden the last several days, mid-day, something happens and one or more screens go blank.

Looking at messages and syslog, I don't see anything unusual. Can someone point me in the right direction towards figuring this out?

Creating A Mount Point For A Partition From Live USB

Hello all,

I was working through LFS 7.7 Chp 2.4 and mounted a wrong partition to /mnt/lfs.
I did the following commands while trying to mount the correct LFS partitions:
mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda8 /mnt/lfs
mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda9 /mnt/lfs/home
but I was supposed to mount sda11 and sda 12.

Now the system won't boot past the splash screen. I tried booting into a live usb and typed in the following commands
mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda8 /
mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda9 /home
but the system still won't boot past the splash screen.
Both gparted and the partition manager for the installer don't show a mount point.

How do I create a mount point from USB or is there another problem/solution?

Thanks

Grafic Card

Dear community

just today I changed from windows to linux mint and my graphic driver kind of crashed, so I found out, that I had to go to the bootmenu and exchange quiet splash with nomodeset. Then I was told to reinstall the graphic driver. I have an Intel GM965/GL960. I googled for quite a while now, without any results. Please help me and please keep your english easy, I'm from Germany

Mint Problem - Stable Alternative?

I'm quite new to Linux, and after a lot of trials ended up with Mint Mate (dual boot with Win7). I've been using it for a few weeks now with no real problems.
However, I've just transferred my system to a new pc case. The only alteration I made was to change the sata connector cable from sata 1 to sata 0. When I tried to boot to Mint I got screen after screen of errors (all unintelligible to me). I tried the recovery boot and got even more screens of errors. I did once get a desktop showing but it wouldn't actually do anything. So I'm now unable to open Mint it just says there is an error on the disk drive.
Thank goodness for Win7! That opened first time, no problems and continues to open fine (and I can access and copy files from there).
Obviously after such a catastrophic experience with Mint I'm going to always stick with dual boot. Unfortunately I'm now very reluctant to trust Linux with anything important though I do want to go on using it for internet access. Can someone recommend a really stable (but easy to use) Mate distro please? Thank you.

Lanix NeuronLT Netbook: GRUB Problem

Hey guys, so I just installed Ubuntu 12.04LTS on this netbook, almost everything works perfect except that I have to suspend and resume it when booting, it doesn't show splash screen or anything at boot.

I think this is a GRUB problem because before Ubuntu I had Android x86 installed alongside Windows 7 and the GRUB Android had installed worked just fine. The "suspend and resume" problem happens on both Ubuntu and Android.
Can someone please help me?
