Hi,
Im running a dual boot of kali linux 1.1.0 on a mid 2009 macbook pro.
I first opened terminal, navigated to file using #cd /usr/share/wordlists
Then after finding the file, extracted it using #gzip -d rockyou.txt.gz
Navigated to file in filesystem,Double clicked it and 90% into loading rocky.txt from /usr/share/wordlists, the computer freezes and i can not do anything at all. I do not want to revert to doing a hard shutdown. Although I already have and after going through those steps again I get the same result.
I would 1st like to know if anyone knows why this is happening and what i can do to fix this issue? As well as, what I can do in general if my computer ever freezes up. Thank You.
Hi,
Previously I had installed VMware Player 6.0.1 with Kali 1.0.6 without any issues. I decided to upgrade both with a clean install to VMware Player 6.0.2 with Kali 1.0.7. Now Kali freezes on me a couple of times a day. When it freezes the light on my caps lock blinks and the only way I can get out is to close VMware Player. Is anybody able to give me some advice on how to fix this. I have reinstalled these again but the same thing. I am a newbie so be gentle.
I'm not sure if this should be in the newbie section, but I am somewhat of a newbie, so here goes:
In a home network, I have an Xubuntu file server with a Samba share that has me as the owner and authorizes me to access the share.
On another computer, I have Mint running and providing various services, including webdav on Apache with SSL. In the var/www/webdav directory of the Mint computer, I have the Xubuntu Samba share mounted. This is supposed to allow me to access the Samba share from the public internet.
Everything works fine except for one big problem: Apache requires the owner of the webdav directory to be user "www-data," and I can't figure out how to give www-data access to the Samba share, since www-data is not a user on the Xubuntu computer, and moreover I don't know the password for user www-data.
Can anyone figure out how to get around this problem? In particular, is there a way to configure the Samba share on the Xubuntu computer so that user www-data on the Mint computer can have access to it?
(Incidentally, I have my reasons for using two computers, one as a file server and one as a web server. Also, I am thinking about switching to NFS instead of Samba, but I'm not sure if even that would solve my problem.)
Ok so I'm trying to install Kali on my computer with the USB install and I have read that anthing after version 1.0.8 should be UEIF compatible. I used Rufus to create the bootable usb with Kali's ISO. When i boot from the usb i get the GRUB loader but no matter if i chose the live or the install it freezes/crashes and get errors like:
no caching mode page found
since the usb is not persistent how can i view or capture the error messages to help me figure out what the problem is?
Also should i just try burning it to disk to see if i get different results? Haven't done it yet because i don't have any DVD's laying around.
My Kali do not want to boot .It freezes at boot kernel.Le only way i had to install was from using the safe mode? I have a laptop asus! That should do?

Hi.
I've just bought this spanking new Dell with Ubuntu Linux on it, but when I'm trying to upgrade from 12.02 to 14.04, it just freezes during installation when it's unpacking adium ubuntu theme.
What should I do?
Should I restore factory settings and try again? or should I just leave it at 12.02?
I've searched online already, but it's been fruitless.
EDIT: Of course, I've updated everything else before I did the switch.
I have tried to put Linux Mint 17.1 on a 500 gig HD (IDE) from
a DVD ISO. The file loads ok but will not complete loading. The
HD drive light stays on solid until I must shut off computer with
power button. Has anyone else run into this problem?
thanks Cliff
Dear all;
I run an execute file named "A" gets it's input from a text file "B.inp"
but I face this error:
A < B.inp
: error while loading shared libraries: libquadmath.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I've downloaded libquadmath and when I want to install it ,the other error said I don't have libgc package!!! but I have libgc!! is it because of existing two different repository that it can't share their information?
my operating system is Centos6;
what shall I do?
Thanks for your attention
