I've had this server up and running for over a year and just recently started getting TCP_DENIED/403 in the logs for a site we've been using forever. When users try to access the site they get "web page not available" messages in their browser. I verified the site and all other links on the site our in my white list. If I bypass the proxy it works just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey. I just got a newer computer (I have two--one home, one at work) that is more powerful. Only problem is I can't edit my Godaddy website from it. The Godaddy site comes up and I can get into it but the editing features don't work.

I've never been able to edit the site from Firefox, but I have (and am still able to) been able to edit it on the older computer from Chrome.

So yeah, I can't edit the site on the newer computer from either browser.

The only difference I can think of (both computers have Xubuntu 14.10) is that on the newer computer I installed the firewall. I may have on the older one too. I'm not sure at this point and not at the computer.

Anyway, would that firewall be a potential cause or would it be something else?

Any suggestions?

First of all I don't know what I'm doing with Linux. At all. Please help. And please speak very clearly and slowly.

I got this computer second hand and I don't know what version of Linux that is on it. I tried to find out, I was just told Meego. Meego is not an option on Skypes homepage for downloading Skype.

I don't really understand the different versions. I especially don't understand how to install programs and downoad updates. I want to download Skype and a more recent version of Firefox or another browser, but I dont know how.

Information online talks about, and tells me to open my Package Manager. I don't know what this is, and I can't find one on my computer. The closest thing I have is called 'Live Update' but I open that and there is nothing in it.

Please can someone take me through how all this is supposed to work please?!

Hi,

Whenever I open browser (any browser) and load websites (any website), it lags and CPU rate gets hiked. I think its due to the processor of the system.

System specs:


Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz

RAM : 2 GiB

The modern websites need at least Core i3 processors to handle properly?

Or is it some other problem?

I am experiencing a strange issue where squid asks me to authenticate twice. Here is how it goes:

I have my Firefox browser set to go out my squid proxy. Whenever I open the browser I am prompted for my username and password, which I enter. Immediately the browser fetches my homepage, however, at almost the exact same time I am prompted to enter my username and password again.

Clearly the I entered the correct information the first time or the browser would never load my homepage. The odd part is that sometimes I can just cancel the second request for a username and password without issue. Other times I MUST enter it to continue browsing.

Any ideas on what is going on here? Thanks in advance to anyone who has some thoughts on this.

It is too bad there is no search capability in the Mozilla browser. While reading large pdf files I am forced to copy their content into gedit and use its search tool.

Dell 2400 Dimension 2GB ram OS Ubuntu 12.04

4oD no longer works in Chrome browser.

I have Adblock Plus disabled and flash control running.

4oD works OK on Firefox with Adblock Plus disabled.

Please could you advise why this is so and how I can make it work?

Just get the buffering 'circle' on start of movie and does not start running the movie.

I am the webmaster of a site dedicated to the travel to the southwest of France. The site is hosted by Hostpapa (in Canada).

The site is 3 yeas old and worked fine until 1 week ago when it became unaccessible to people who use the French company "Free" as an ISP. (the site is available via all other French or International ISP providers as far as I know).
I have contacted Free tech support but they are completely incompetent - I even got answers like "If we cannot see the site we cannot do anything for you" and they surely could not see it because it is THEIR company that blocks it etc.
Frankly I am at my wits end and not sure what to do next. Free is a popular company in France due to their cut prices so it is a pity to lose so many potential customers.
My question is: is there anything that Free could have changed (not sure what) that would prompt me to change any settings in the for example .htaccess file or anything like this? Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thank you

I already know how to change themes but I'm quite fond of the Ambiance pack that I'm using. My problem is a slight annoyance, yet an annoyance nonetheless. I want to know how to change the Panel/Menu bar color to my choosing as it doesn't fit with the rest of the window. It is present in the default, out of box Ubuntu, just open your browser or any other window (preferably in Maximized mode as it is more apparent) and look at the Menu Bar/Panel.

Notice the Top and Bottom Colors are of different shades. This is what has been bothering me so much, and it occurs in every window be it maximized or windowed, and not just in Chrome.

I would like to now how to make it so that the colors match, either being the bottom part is as light as the top, or the top part is made as dark as the bottom, or even a different color altogether, as long as it matches. And if possible as the preferred alternative, as this would be the most aesthetically pleasing while also being the most unlikely, could there be a blurred transition effect between the Top and Bottom portions so that it would flow into each other naturally instead of clashing against each other. Though this alternative would be nice, I understand if that is not possible and I will settle for the two colors to match.

I use to use cjb.net for tunneling but for some reason they changed their site. Can someone tell me a good site that is simple for me to understand to use?
