Downloads From Ubuntu Software Center Do Not Start

Hello,
I have a program running on my Linux server , working fine ,
but when I launch Eclipse by typing :eclipse & , memory crash happened , in other word ,core dump on my program.

if I launch Eclipse using other way, java -jar /usr/lib64/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox,launcher_1.1.0.v20100507.jar -clean -showSplash my_code_folder -vmargs -Xms384m -Xmx1024m &
my code and eclipse work fine .

I am new with Eclipse, anybody has any idea about this?

I've downloaded the latest eclipse (.tar.gz) and unpacked it to /usr/bin and created a launcher for it, but it doesn't launch.
I also created a shell script on the desktop called eclipse.sh, content :
cd /usr/bin/eclipse
./eclipse

and did a chmod 755 /Desktop/eclipse.sh in a terminal as root.
I did a chmod 775 on the eclipse executable as well, but it still won't launch

NB I followed the same procedure with Bluegriffon and that runs OK.

I bet I'm missing something obvious, but just can't think what.

Box is AMD Phenom ll x4 / 8GB DDR3 running Mint 17.1 LXDE.

For my dual boot system, I first installed window XP followed by Linux fedora 19 and the system has been booting and working fine without
problem.

Now, I would like to remove window XP and install Window 7,
so, I need to remove the partition window XP is on, and then
do a fresh window 7 install. Is there is simple and easy way
of doing this ?

I have window XP, a window 7 and a linux fedora installation disk.

I have recently installed Elementary OS on my HP 550 laptop. While everything is running as expected, I've run into a small problem when attempting to watch videos on Youtube using Chromium.

The video loads fine but displays little yellow rectangles all over the video. According to Youtube, Chromium uses HTML5 rather than Flash - maybe that is the issue - but I am thinking it maybe a graphics driver issue. The videos run absolutely fine on Firefox and will stick to that if necessary, but I would prefer to use Chromium.

I have tried using Code:

gksu jockey-gtk

and it couldnt find any drivers to install.

Hi everybody! Im new member in linux community so please for help . I have already 2 application installed like skype and chromium and those application does'nt work ,from the other side flash also not working i have old one laptop . And i have much problems with console , my distro is lxle 12.04 and laptop is asusu l300d .

i was suggested by a friend to use linux because my laptop was running slow. it worked fine for a few weeks but one day i turned my laptop on and i got a message that cinnamon has crashed & is running in fallback mode. i did what it suggested and tried to restart cinnamon but when i pressed the restart cinnamon icon the cursor just when back to the middle of my screen and the icon came back up again saying that cinnamon had crashed. ive searched on many forums looking for a salution to fix my problem but most of them i need to use my termenal which i cannot access.could someone please help me out with this problem. just a little heads up im not a computer programer or webpage designer

i'm little bit confused about how the upgrading or updating works. let's say im currently using ubuntu and one opened app which is firefox and im updating the system. after the upgrating is done im still using older version of ubuntu and firefox without any trouble. how is this possible. am i currently working on the programs which have loaded to the RAM?as far as i know if we run a program the whole thing is not loaded to the RAM therefor i think it's not possible to work that fine on the RAM without loading from the hard disk. im glad if any one can explane me this.

In the (x)ubuntu updates, I keep getting chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra, which is part of the Chromium browser update. However, I don't have Chromium installed.

I do have Google Chrome. Is that the reason? But if so, how would they know I have Chrome?

Hey guys, so I just installed Ubuntu 12.04LTS on this netbook, almost everything works perfect except that I have to suspend and resume it when booting, it doesn't show splash screen or anything at boot.

I think this is a GRUB problem because before Ubuntu I had Android x86 installed alongside Windows 7 and the GRUB Android had installed worked just fine. The "suspend and resume" problem happens on both Ubuntu and Android.
Can someone please help me?

Hi everyone, I am a new member and also new to linux, I encountered a problem, but last week I tried but did not solve
I downloaded iso file linux 1.1.0 on page potassium https://www.kali.org, I installed on my Dell inspiron n4010, it works very well and does not have any errors, but after I update and upgrade all packages, I rebooted the system switches to the command line, I lost a lot of time to return to the graphics, but when booting up the network manager icon not seen, I have set the package network-manager-gnome_0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb network manager icon show but when click on the network manager icon only contained text "network manager is not running."
I also installed Wicd but could not run "could not connect to wicd's D-Bus interface. Check the wicd log for error messages."
