PhpVirtualBox Cannot Connect To 127.0.0.1:18083

I am using phpVirtualBox, and everything is working perfectly. Then something changes, and I get the following error:
Code:
Could not connect to host (http://127.0.0.1:18083/)

I reboot the physical machine, or execute /etc/init.d/vboxweb-service restart, and then everything works for a while.

According to http://sourceforge.net/p/phpvirtualb...onnect-to-host, there are three reasons why this will happen.
Quote:
This indicates that phpVirtualBox could not connect to the vboxwebsrv server. Either the location setting in config.php is wrong, vboxwebsrv is not running on the VirtualBox host, or SELinux is blocking access to vboxwebsrv. If you have SELinux enabled
As shown below, it is not reason 2 or 3.

Code:
[root@devserver ~]# service vboxweb-service status
Checking for VBox Web Service ...running
[root@devserver ~]# service vboxdrv status
VirtualBox kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) are loaded.
[root@devserver ~]# service vboxautostart-service status
Usage: /etc/init.d/vboxautostart-service {start|stop}
[root@devserver ~]# service  vboxballoonctrl-service status
Checking for VBox watchdog service ...not running
[root@devserver ~]# sestatus
SELinux status:                 enabled
SELinuxfs mount:                /selinux
Current mode:                   permissive
Mode from config file:          permissive
Policy version:                 24
Policy from config file:        targeted
[root@devserver ~]#

Thus it must be that the location setting in config.php is wrong. config.php has the following default settings, and I left them as is.

Code:
/* SOAP URL of vboxwebsrv (not phpVirtualBox's URL) */
var $location = 'http://127.0.0.1:18083/';
...
// Host / ip to use for console connections
#var $consoleHost = '192.168.1.40';

According to http://sourceforge.net/p/phpvirtualb...-configuration, "If VirtualBox and phpVirtualBox are on the same physical host, you may leave the $location setting alone". VirtualBox and phpVirtualBox are definitely on the same physical machine.

Please provide recommendations.

Create Windows VirtualBox Guest On Centos

I have VirtualBox up and running on my headless Centos 6 machine, am using http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpvirtualbox/ as a GUI, and created a virtual machine and installed Windows 7 on it.

I can access it using the VirtualBox console (via phpvirtualbox interface), however, only can see part of the screen and the mouse doesn't work properly. I can also access it using Windows Remote Desktop Connection using IP 192.168.1.200:9000 (why port 9000?), but again the mouse doesn't work.

I have the following ext packs installed on the server.
Code:
login as: Michael
Michael@192.168.1.201's password:
Last login: Sat May 23 10:06:04 2015 from 192.168.1.10

Extension Packs: 1
Pack no. 0: Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack

Description: USB 2.0 Host Controller, Host Webcam, VirtualBox RDP, PXE ROM with E1000 support.
VRDE Module:  VBoxVRDP
Usable:       true
Why unusable:

Do I need additional extensions to better interact with the guest? How are they installed? Thank you

Systemd Starting Services

hi all

I am learning systemd and how to add new services as part of the LFS201 course and I have a question about the services:
Code:
Lab 4.2: Adding a New Startup Service with systemd
For example a very minimal file named
/etc/systemd/system/fake2.service:
[Unit]
Description=fake2
After=network.target
[Service]
ExecStart=/bin/echo I am starting the fake2 service
ExecStop=/bin/echo I am stopping the fake2 service
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

Code:
root@ubuntu:/etc/systemd/system# systemctl start fake.service
root@ubuntu:/etc/systemd/system# systemctl status fake.service
 fake.service - fake
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/fake.service; disabled; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)

May 16 11:41:05 ubuntu systemd[1]: Started fake.
May 16 11:41:05 ubuntu systemd[1]: Starting fake...
May 16 11:41:05 ubuntu echo[1798]: I am starting the fake2 service
May 16 11:41:05 ubuntu echo[1800]: I am stopping the fake2 service
root@ubuntu:/etc/systemd/system# ps aux | grep fake*
root      1809  0.0  0.0  13688  2272 pts/8    S+   11:41   0:00 grep --color=auto fake.service
root@ubuntu:/etc/systemd/system#

as you can see the fake2 service is really only two lines. And when I grep for the service via ps I can't fine it. I guess it is because it has finished running. I am wondering how can I change it so that I can keep it running?

thanks

Mounting A USB For Vbox

I am installing VirtualBox on Centos per http://www.digitesters.com/centos-in...adless-system/, and I don't understand the very end. Seems like Line 5 is not needed as it is already done on Line 4, right?

Code:
# mkdir /data/virtual_machines/vbox/vbusbfs
# chown vboxuser.vboxusers /data/virtual_machines/vbox/vbusbfs
# chmod 775 /data/virtual_machines/vbox/vbusbfs
# echo "none /data/virtual_machines/vbox/vbusbfs usbfs rw,devgid=$(awk -F : '/vboxusers/ {print $3}' /etc/group),devmode=664 0 0" >> /etc/fstab
# echo "none /data/virtual_machines/vbox/vbusbfs usbfs rw,devgid=$(awk -F : '/vboxusers/ {print $3}' /etc/group),devmode=664 0 0" >> /etc/fstab
# mount -a

I executed the above script (except didn't execute Line 5, and my user:group is vbox:vbox and not vboxuser.vboxusers, and the folder is at /home/vbox and not /data/virtual_machines/vbox), and the following was added to /etc/fstab. Please explain what Line 4 did and what the below line in my fstab file means.
Code:
none /home/vbox/vbusbfs usbfs rw,devgid=496
504,devmode=664 0 0

I then executed mount -a, and got the following response. The part about /var/www/main/ayb_resources and /var/www/main/ayb_cache does not exist is probably some old stuff which I can get rid of, but I am particularly interested in "mount point 0 does not exist" as it seems to be related to the above.

Code:
[root@devserver vbox]# mount -a
mount: special device /var/www/main/ayb_resources does not exist
mount: special device /var/www/main/ayb_cache does not exist
mount: mount point 0 does not exist
[root@devserver vbox]#

My total fstab file is as follows:

Code:
[root@devserver vbox]# cat /etc/fstab

Systemd And Loading Init File

I recently changed from Debian 7 to 8 which now uses systemd as the default init.
I had a init file that worked fine (see below) and works fine when directly invoked
Code:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/iptables start

however fails when indirectly invoked
Code:
$ sudo service iptables start
Job for iptables.service failed. See 'systemctl status iptables.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

Code:
$ systemctl status iptables.service
 iptables.service - LSB: Iptable setup
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/iptables)
   Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2015-05-25 17:18:37 PDT; 5s ago
  Process: 4825 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/iptables start (code=exited, status=203/EXEC)

Code:
$ journalctl -xn
No journal files were found.

I don't understand the error except that it "failed" and is loaded.
I have disabled and re-enabled the service with these commands:

Code:
sudo systemctl disable iptables
sudo systemctl enable iptables

which completes successfully but did not fix the problem.

I know it is impossible to know for sure, but think it is hardware related? Any chance to salvage?

Also, what are the steps to start troubleshooting?

Automating Script To Run Every Minute Through Other Manually Created User Using Crond

Hy All,

I have two nodes running RHEL 6.4 which are in cluster. I have clustered httpd service. Now I have certain application suppose X which reside in SAN partition. Now my job is to only automate this script to run by analyzing httpd status. I have successfully created the script apptrigger.sh whose content is given below,

-bash-4.1$ cat apptrigger.sh
a=0
b=0
c=0
d=0
a="service httpd status"
b=`eval $a`
##### CHECKING WHETHER HTTPD SERVICE IS RUNNING OR NOT #####
if [ "$b" != "httpd is stopped" ]; then
c="bash /switchapp/switch/ezlinkenterprise/bin/ezlink-cluster.sh status"
d=`eval $c`
##### CHECKING WHETHER EZ IS RUNNING OR NOT #####
if [ "$d" != "EzTaskMgr is Running" ]; then
ezstart
fi
fi

I have created this script in say test user. Now when I put this script to automate or run every minute through test user and defined its value in crontab -e of test user whose content is as shown below
$crontab -l
* * * * * /bin/bash /home/test/apptrigger.sh

but this script is running as root user so I cannot get the o/p
I think some environment variable need to be set. Anyone can guide me with this step? Thanks for your views and suggestion.

Problem With Running Bash Script

Hi

I have just started to use Linux on my Raspberry Pi to host a home automation server & I'm having a problem when trying to run a bash script.

The script in question is to turn off my Viera TV & is as follows
Code:
#!/bin/sh
curl -i \
-H "Accept: text/xml" \
-H "Cache-Control: no-cache" \
-H "Pragma: no-cache" \
-H 'SOAPACTION: "urn:panasonic-com:service:p00NetworkControl:1#X_SendKey"' \
-H "Content-Length: 200" \
-H 'Content-Type: text/xml;charset="utf-8"' \
-X POST --data '<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> \
<s:Body> \
<u:X_SendKey xmlns:u="urn:panasonic-com:service:p00NetworkControl:1"> \
<X_KeyEvent>NRC_POWER-ONOFF</X_KeyEvent> \
</u:X_SendKey> \
</s:Body> \
</s:Envelope>' http://192.168.1.87:55000/nrc/control_0/

If I run this from the command line it works fine but when I try to run it from within the Home Automation application it returns error code 32512 which I've seen elsewhere is actually exit status 127 & basically down to not being able to find the program to execute.

Permissions are fine & I've tried using the full path name for both curl and the script itself but I still get the error. Has anyone any idea what I need to change as this looks to be a pure Linux (or rather my misunderstanding of Linux) issue rather than the home automation program

Thanks

Steve
